Unopened Parachute

The moment I laid eyes on you

I began to put on a harness.

I hoped to find something true,

But all I got was shiny varnish.


And eventually that began to stain my heart

Then the toxins sank in,

But I still couldn't part;

I had the feeling of desire within.


I tried to hold on really tight,

Then I thought the resistance released.

We began to both take flight,

But that was just a tease.


I took a chance and just jumped

Hoping I'd land there in your arms.

Maybe that would fix our slump,

And I'd land safely away from harm,


But your catch, well it never came,

And the parachute never opened.

All my efforts they were in vain.

Your love was not an earned token.


Our love was never to remain,

And I fell only to be broken.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
