Ever feel like you're not good enough? Ashamed of your past or feel like there's always someone smarter, faster, or prettier than you?
If you're having these thoughts, you're not alone. In fact, the google search, "I'm not good enough” has over 300 million results, as Lori Deschene portrays in, "40 Ways To Transform Your Inner Critic And Your Life." Our own mind has the most critical and harsh words to say about ourselves. There is no place darker than the human mind.
No matter who we are or where we've been, we all crave and deserve to reach a point of serenity and happiness in life. To obtain this, we must let go of the vile critic inside of us. We were taught as kids that we must be tough on ourselves in order to better ourselves, when in fact, loving who you are is what makes you prosper. We are only human, and our flaws are what make us beautiful. Our scars show hard work, strength, and make us unique to every other single person on the planet.
We also must set free this need for approval, and constant comparison between ourselves and others. This is sadly something almost everyone struggles with. For example, there are beautiful girls everywhere, tall, skinny and tan. We study them, trying to be just like them because they seem to have it all. Meanwhile trying to be something we’re not, we’re forgetting we are beautiful in a different way, our own unique way where as there are thousands of those girls who look somewhat the same. Embracing our authenticity is key.
Loving yourself, as cheesy as it sounds, opens doors to many getaways in life. The most successful people shine because they are happy being nobody but who they were destined to be. Those successful, love filled people are the ones who truly have it all. The more you accept yourself, the more successful you will be and your life will start to change. Us humans can sense love and confidence, and we surround ourselves with it because its attraction is in our DNA and it becomes infectious. People want to surround themselves with positive souls who never let their inner critic down talk themselves or others. The more people see your confidence and beauty, the more opportunities people will want to bring to you.
Letting go of your inner critic is easier said than done. Focus on the present, the here and now, and the future will come easy as happiness and acceptance will become a habit. Lori Deschene states that "it is not a linear journey, but more like two steps forward and one step back".
We truly are capable of anything in life. Society believes that is an unrealistic statement because we are slowly diminishing the hope inside of us and replacing it with degrading thoughts and actions. You are the only one capable of determining your success and happiness, so why not reach for the stars?
No one said slaying the dragon inside the castle was easy, but its worth it once that beautiful princess is blossoming right in front of you.
