Coconut oil might be the greatest thing since slice bread! This oil is one of those underrated things that men and women should incorporate into their daily lives! Coconut is seen as something unique in the Western culture, but much of the world uses coconut oil in their daily lives to prevent heart diseases. Coconut oil is different because of the medium chained fatty acids that behave differently when being digested. There is a misconception that saturated fats are not good for you, however they don't harm the blood lipid profile, as previously thought. Not only can the oil enhance your inner beauty, but your outer beauty as well.

I have been a huge fan of coconut oil since my early days (which doesn't say much because I am only 19). However, I actually use coconut oil on an everyday bases when I can because it works! There are not many things I would go out of my way for if I did not love them. Here are 5 reasons to incorporate coconut oil in your everyday life.

1.Beautiful skin!

Do you envy that beautiful J Lo glow? Dab some coconut oil onto your skin, specifically your shoulders, legs, and your collarbones, and even some on your abs if you feel the need to perk up those abs before hitting the beach! Not only will this moisturize your skin and make your skin literally baby soft, you will "shine bright like a diamond". Afraid of feeling slimy? No slime here, the oil absorbs right up with in minutes and there is no trace of that oily feeling. You will definitely look like you naturally have beautiful skin that radiates!

2. Moisturizing your hair and skin!

As i briefly mentioned in tip 1, coconut oil will moisturize the heck out of things like your hair and skin. Give your self a hair mask and let your hair sit with coconut oil in your hair over night (best thing is that it absorbs so well that you don't need a hair towel to wrap your hair up). Wake up, wash your hair, and you will feel the softness in your hair. Along with after your shower, lather your self up with the oil to really lock in moisturizer after a nice warm shower. I promise your skin will thank you and people will probably wonder how your skin is so soft, but who knows "maybe you were just born with it".

3. Its an AMAZING makeup remover

Give up the expensive makeup removers and use that money somewhere else. With coconut oil not only will you save your self loads of time, but money as well! I am a makeup and skincare junkie, and even the most expensive stuff on the market can not beat coconut oil. This oil gets that shit off your eyes in no time, and you wont be left with raccoon eyes in the morning, on top of that your moisturizing your under eyes. Trust me on this one, once you try coconut oil, you will never go back.

4. Digestion and Health

Not only will you be feeding your body with one of the few real "super foods" you will be creating a lean, mean. fighting machine! Saturated Fats are not actually bad for you. Coconut Oil is packed with Saturated Fats, that can lead to an improvement in HDL which is the good cholesterol we want to promote. As the MCT's in the oil are breaking down into ketones, your body will be able to also proved better digestion, which you know what that means... Less bloat and more room for snacks! In all seriousness, studies show again and again, that coconut oil has many health benefits which also includes lowering your risk of heart disease.

5. Reduces your hunger

A friend showed me how coconut oil can reduce your hunger, and ever since then, when i know I'm craving something bad, I will add a teaspoon to a tablespoon of the oil to my coffee- sounds disgusting, but you honestly don't taste the oil if you mix it well enough. This is the best appetite suppressant I have found, and not only have I discovered this, now my friends have passed this amazing secret from me on to their friends! If you give this a try purchase the bottle that says "unrefined" because it is way less processed than the refined, which also includes the health benefits for you. Say thanks to those medium chained fats because those are what will keep you satiated and not feeling the need to eat more.

Take or leave any of these tips on how to incorporate coconut oil into your life! I don't use all of these tips everyday, but when I do, I feel the difference in my health and it is very much worth trying them out! Let me know if you try any of these!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
