University of Iowa Dating Horror Stories

Some anonymous peopleĀ at the University of Iowa were generous enough to share some of their most embarrassing stories during their college career.

"I went to a frat formal last year with a random who needed a date and the first night my date decided he could walk us home by cutting through the woods and we eventually had to be picked up by a park ranger and he told us we were lucky we didn't see any bob cats or mountain lions!"

"First time I met my boyfriends family for dinner, I was eating pasta and I talk with my hands a lot, so I had a bite of pasta on my fork in my hand and the pasta flew into his sisters drink and I proceeded to fish it out with my spoon. Total fail."

"My dad told me to talk about the Korean war if I ran out of small talk with my boyfriends parents at dinner....never listening to my father again."

"I was tipsyĀ at a concert with my friend and of course weĀ were slapping each other'sĀ butts because we suck and I hit some guys butt. He turns around and said hello ladies... turns out the guy was my high school math teacher."

"I clogged the toilet one time and blamed it on my boyfriends sister..."

"I was at my boyfriend's school this fall and I was naked and had just gotten up to get my clothes when his roommate goes can IĀ come in? I literally slammed the door on his face. Ran to the bathroom and didn't come out till he left."

"First time I went to my ex-boyfriends family holiday party and I fell asleep on the couch in front of everyone and missed the entire celebration. By the time i woke up, it was time to leave."

"I told my boyfriends family I made homemade cupcakes when they were really from a boxed mix. They proceeded to ask for the recipe and I was like uhhh...1 table spoon of sugar...I think a cup of flour..made the whole thing up and they tried to make it."

"At the Zac Brown Band concert on a Sunday night during the school year, I saw my ex-boyfriends mom/our school dean as IĀ was making out and dancingĀ on a 25 year old."

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
