Getting into the university you wanted is an amazing feeling, but the awe of it quickly dies down as you begin your first step into the adult world. You have expectations that the university will be one big, continuous party, and while of course, college can be fun, there are many times when students feel as if they are in over their heads. This list of college expectations vs. realities helps students assess their problems, and realize that they are not alone. College can be fun, but it is also really difficult sometimes.

1. You think you are an adult until you actually have to be one and make your own phone calls and appointments.

2. You can study all you want, but you most likely still won't get an A on the exams.

3. You think this is the time to eat healthy and exercise more than ever, but end up eating Spaghettios or Ramen Noodles for a week straight because that is more along your budget.

4. You think you can just study for an exam the night before, like in high school, but there's never enough time to do everything because you've procrastinated so much.

5. You think you'll have more free time to do what you enjoy, but when you finally have free time, all you can bring yourself to do is watch Netflix-or even when you don't have any free time at all.

6. Some days you actually wake up for class on time, but you can't even bring yourself to walk to it because your bed has never felt more comfortable and/or you're way too tired.

7. You tell yourself that you'll take advantage of the weekends to do homework and catch up, but then Monday comes again and you're still drowning in assignments.

8. You think you're going to keep your room perfectly clean, but the only time cleaning looks appealing is when you have a mountain of work to do.

9. You think you know what not getting sleep is, until you get to college and basically, some naps are just longer than others.

10. You think college can't be that hard, but then you get to classes like Philosophy and realize that you are basically more stress than human at some points.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
