8 All Too Real Thoughts All UA Students Have The Week BEFORE Spring Break

'Twas the week before spring break and all through UA's campus... a retelling of some of the thoughts we all suffered through the week before spring break's arrival.

Finally, the University of Alabama students are getting a much-needed spring break. But as the week started to come to a close, University of Alabama students became restless.

The anticipation for a week off from schoolwork and responsibilities was such a strong temptation to just give up on the rest of the week altogether. Below are eight thoughts that I guarantee every student at UA had the week prior to the start of spring break.

1. "Since when do weeks have 847,362 days in them?"

Okay, so maybe this is an exaggerated number. But seriously, the week felt like it could literally go on forever.

2. "Did our professors plan on assigning every single project, test, and paper possible this week?"

I wouldn't be surprised if professors did this on purpose to ensure students don't just take off for vacation a week early (which I can totally get because I'm pretty sure I would have been out of here if not). However, it felt impossible to get everything done for four to five classes on a week where your mind is slowly shutting off and already preparing to zone into another, completely un-school related mindset.

3. "Am I more excited about the vacation, or just having no school work?"

Maybe it was just me, but I couldn't decide if I was more excited about all the fun to be had on my trip to Cancun, or honestly just having a break from not having to worry about turning in some sort of assignment, attend a meeting, or wake up early for class. I don't know what changes junior year, but this school year has definitely worn me out.

4. "Maybe I should go for a run.."

"Okay, I'll start my workout schedule for spring break this week." That was what I have told myself literally every Sunday since January 1st. Who knew March 3rd would have come up so fast and brought spring break with it? So, if you put off your workout plan and just had the thought to take a quick little jog around the quad for good measure last week, don't worry, you were definitely not alone.

5. "Did the house decide to only serve us carbs this week???"

The temptation is real. Much like my failed attempt at a workout plan, my diet plan started with strong intentions but ultimately fell through. So, to make myself feel a tiny bit better, I planned on just eating healthy the last week leading up to break (because if only dieting actually worked that way, ugh).

However, it was as if it was the fate for me to not eat health since my sorority house food tempted me with nothing but my favorites all week. If tacos or pasta were on the menu, I'm there regardless of if it was the week before spring break or not.

6. "I'm dropping out"

Kidding, but not really. As the week slowly crawled along, each day got harder and harder when it came to keeping up with all of the day's tasks.

7. "Does this mean that the semester is already halfway over now?"

Even though last week seemed like the longest seven days I've ever lived, the last three months have seemed to absolutely flown by. With each midterm that was assigned, it blew my mind that we're already at the halfway point in the semester. Take that thought positively or negatively, but it's still shocking that it's true nonetheless.

8. "I'll miss my roommates/T-Town"

Even though everyone was so ready to go on their vacations or return to their hometown, I knew I was going to miss my roommates that I'm used to seeing every day, and the place I have to call my second home. Returning to these things will hopefully give a certain sense of excitement to try and ease the hurt of when spring break comes to a close this week.

Even though the week may have been one of the toughest and grueling weeks of the semester, we made it through! So pat yourself on the back, relax and have some fun while you continue to enjoy your break — because I know we all definitely deserve it.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
