Universal Studios Hollywood, in a press release, announced that they will be offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to walk through one of their horrifying mazes with the lights turned on. The park's new Stranger Things maze garnered widespread respect and acclaim for its immersive storytelling and suspenseful tension that drags its visitors into the strange happenings of Hawkins, Indiana. Constructing the maze allowed Universal Hollywood's Creative Director John Murdy to work with his team and remake the critically-acclaimed show's suspenseful and '80s-inspired set pieces and monster designs in classic Stranger Things fashion. What this means is that his team opted for a cinematic experience rather than a simple "jump scare" type maze that aims to scare you from start to finish with simple imagery.
Recently, it seems like Universal Hollywood has received numerous requests to view the maze in the daytime with the lights on to see how the iconic maze comes together at night to terrify its visitors. Some people might opt for this route in order to avoid having the Hawkins scared out of them while still experiencing the "movie-quality sets" of their beloved show. Cinema buffs and nostalgia hounds may combine both experiences to really get behind the recreation of "the good old days" of their youths. One thing that will convince people the maze is fantastic is to know that the younger cast of Stranger Things walked through the maze in complete terror. If the ones who are involved with the scary things we see on screen are terrified by this experience, you are sure to go through it at least as freaked out, perhaps even more.
If you happen to not be a thrill junkie, the self-guided lights on tour of the maze might be the choice for you. This offer starts on Monday, October 29 and lasts until Friday, November 2, all included in the price of regular daytime admission to Universal Studios Hollywood.
