Universal has announced that they will make new movies available from home on the same day as their scheduled theatrical releases because the coronavirus is closing down movie theaters en masse.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "The movies will be available on a wide variety of on-demand services, including iTunes and Google Play for a 48-hour rental period at a suggested retail price of $19.99."
This is a huge break from tradition in the movie industry where studios usually wait until around three months after their movies release in theaters to release them on home media — and it's a welcome break for everyone self-isolating and unable to see their favorite movies.
