While some prefer to dive into the bustling life of crowded city streets during the summer, the breezy, salty beach vacation remains a classic for the sunny days. It is certainly possible to combine both, but nothing beats a quiet beach with only the sound of the waves.

An essential part of the comfort on your vacation are the contents of your travel bag. Here is a universal list of necessary items to squeeze the most zen out of your holiday.

1. Sunscreen

THE most important of all your toiletries. We are all dreaming of that bronze tan, but it is not worth risking your beautiful skin for. Not to mention that sunburn can ruin even the greatest of vacations. Choose an SPF according to your skin tone and sensitivity and make sure to reapply every two hours and after swimming.

2. Books

What better time to pick up those books you've been meaning to read but never found the time for. Whether you chose to engage in a fictional novel or non-fictional anecdote, books will surely keep you engaged in the most relaxing way possible. Audiobooks count, too! P.S. Don't forget the headphones.

3. A Journal

With all this time to be alone with your thoughts, you are sure to make some connections and think up some great ideas. Take time out of each day to just observe your thought process and write down any conclusions, questions and reflections you have, it'll help your future self to stay focused.

With these three simple items, your beach vacation is sure to be relaxing, yet constructive. When your mind is relaxed and still, it is the best time to learn something new or resume something from before,

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
