This Big Adventure

If you were to scroll through my Instagram feed, you would see that I follow a lot of food accounts. You would also see pictures of all of the cool food I eat on my Snapchat story. My boyfriend and I, self-proclaimed foodies, have been making sure to visit all the unique food places on our bucket list by the end of the summer. Here are a few of our favorite places we have visited so far:

Brother Bruno’s in Wayne, NJ

Brother Bruno’s is the home of the dessert pizza. It is a pizzeria and deli that serves all kinds of original foods, but they are most well-known for their dessert pies. You can pick up to four different flavors in each pie. There are so many options so it is very hard to choose only four! After two weeks of going to the gym (almost) every day, we felt like we deserved a cheat meal. We got cannoli, s’mores, Nutella birthday cake, and Nutella red velvet on our pie. Cannoli was definitely our favorite. We plan on returning there again soon, this time trying a whole new combination! If you don’t already follow them on Instagram, I highly suggest you do so. You won’t regret it.

Black Tap in NYC

Black Tap was another amazing experience. After months of trying to plan a day to visit, we finally hopped on the bus to the city. We were expecting to have to wait in line for at least an hour or two, but we got lucky and were seated within 40 minutes! The main reason for our trip was to try their outrageous shakes, but my boyfriend also ordered a burger and loved it! The shakes are adorned with crazy, full-sized toppings. We got the Sweet N’ Salty and the Cookie shake. The Sweet N’ Salty was topped with pretzel rods, peanut butter cups, a Sugar Daddy, M&M’s, and a chocolate covered pretzel. The Cookie shake was covered with cookies, chocolate chips, and an actual ice cream cookie sandwich. Both shakes met our expectations, even after seeing countless Instagram pictures and Snapchats. Next time we go back, we are going to try the Cotton Candy shake!

Cafe Archetypus in Edgewater, NJ

Cafe Archetypus is a cozy cafe famous for their cave seating. We went on my birthday, wanting to make sure we got seated in the cave. The atmosphere at Cafe Archetypus was perfect. It is dark and quiet in there, so any loud, obnoxious talking or camera flashes are very noticeable. Our booth looked like a little cave with a table and a candle. The menu has extensive food, drink, and dessert options. We got the Garden Pesto pizza, which was a great starter for us to share. It took us a very long time to pick out which dessert we wanted. There are so many different choices, all of which sounded amazing. After narrowing it down to just a few different desserts, we finally decided to get the Black Russian Desire. It was chocolate cake, coffee and amaretto ice cream, coffee beans, Kahlua, and fudge. We left full and happy! This place is an amazing experience thanks to the food and atmosphere!

Next stop: Coney Waffle in Belmar, NJ

Coney Waffle is known for their ‘freakshakes’ and crazy cones. Just by looking at their Instagram you can see how insane they are! I have been wanting to try something from Coney Waffle, so next time I am down the shore I will definitely be stopping there!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
