His lips unkiss mine
He slides the ring off my finger
Lowering the veil and watching
As my father whisks me away up the aisle
I unpin and untuck my white gown
Feet warming then cooling
I gasp as he rises from a bent knee
Unsipping a glass of liquid courage
He leaves a velvet box on the glass counter
And backs out of the jewelry store
I unsend a smiley face emoji
He takes back his request for another date
I look down from his crooked smile
I forget his face as I leave the table
I lose his number and he loses mine
My cousin unsuggests the blind date
With an old college friend
I am home
I am alone
