7 Thoughts Every Girl Has At Their Sorority Recruitment Tea

In This Article:

Starting college is scary in itself, along with moving away from home and getting ready to be challenged in a way that you haven't before. Add on to that trying to join a sorority and you may feel like a nervous wreck, but don't worry! There are thousands of other girls across the country who are feeling the same way you do about your new chapter.

So, here are 7 thoughts you will probably have or have already had when at your sorority recruitment tea.

Maybe you feel too formal or maybe you feel like you should've dressed up a little more than just cute shorts and a nice shirt. You're starting to wonder why didn't you buy that romper you saw at TJMaxx.

She is just like me!

One of the girls who comes to tell you about their sorority makes you feel much better about your upcoming journey. She grew up in the same place you did, and she went to your high school's rival school. She ate at all the same mom & pop restaurants as you did, and she knows exactly what church you're talking about.

I am nothing like her.

She tells you about sports and all of the different parties she has been to since she has joined her sorority, but you are more into movie marathons and studying.

Maybe that isn't my top pick.

You feel like you have the least in common with the girls from what you thought was going to be your top pick sorority. You may be a little upset and feel somewhat confused. You had gone through their instagram account time and time again, and you thought those would be the girls you related to the most!

I am going to return the shoes I bought for formal dress day.

Every girl that comes to your table gives you the same advice when you ask for their best tips for Rush Week: wear comfortable shoes! The Burkes Outlet Calvin Klein heels aren't going to cut it, you realize. Just stick with your platform sandals.

Will I be able to balance school, work, and greek life?

When you're being told of all the sorority dues, you know you're going to have to pick up a part time job. You also know you've got to keep your GPA up, and attend so many events. How are you going to fit all of this in?

Do I even want to rush?

You start to wonder if you've made the right decision, but then you remember that you have already paid the registration fee! After all, you need to step out of your comfort zone.

Everyone around you is nervous! Even some of the sorority girls you talk to may be nervous! Don't sweat it, and remember that if anything is meant to be, it'll be.

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.
