4 Common Misconceptions About Feminism
Truth Revolt

I am so disgusted with our culture today. I am never one to rant online about problems but it is time people become aware of the confused and most hated word right now - Feminism. There are so many girls as well as men out there who are uneducated on Feminism and are giving it a bad reputation. Feminism has no desire to put down men. Feminism is about equality for BOTH genders.

As the wise Emma Watson puts it, "Men, I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue too." We need men on our side. So no ladies, Feminism does not put down men. Feminism is meant to raise us to the same standards as them and putting men down not only gives us a bad name, but is not what we are fighting for. We are not better than men, we are equal, at least we should be. So please do your research and stop giving us a bad reputation.

It's time to clear these misconceptions.

1. Feminism is about male bashing

Feminism has no intentions of putting men down. We are not trying to eliminate men in power. We are simply trying to raise women to the same standards.

2. Only women can be feminists

We need men on our side. It can't just be women fighting for our equality. Feminism affects men too.

3. We don't need Feminism because men and women are equal now

We still have a lot to work towards. There is still a significant pay gay between men and women. It's difficult for a women to have a career and a family but not difficult for a man to and that's just the beginning of it.

4. Feminism is for white women only

Again, Feminism is about equality for not just both genders but also for all races. All women should have to opportunity to be educated or economically sufficient and most importantly not in danger of threat or violence. For some reason white feminism has become a common term used. Feminism doesn't discriminate.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
