Taylor Swift released all her albums on Spotify June 8th sending her entire fan base into a frenzy, which includes myself. Now as I write this, the sweet lyrics of 'Back To December' and the riveting revenge songs blast through my laptop speakers.
I no longer have to carry her CD's around with me in the car to play, or switch them when I want to listen to a certain song. Nor do I have to endure those long road trips with NO Taylor Swift. Believe me, those were always the longest road trips. How can it be an adventure across the state if you and your best friends aren't blasting 'Picture To Burn' on high and screaming the lyrics at the top of your lungs?
This release almost makes up for the fact that she hasn't released the 10 minute version of 'All Too Well' or recorded the rock version of 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.' It makes the wait for her newest album a little easier to handle now that us Spotify subscribers have enough music to fill our Swifty hearts.
In honor of being able to listen to song after song I compiled a list of the most underrated, not talked about enough songs. And now that she's on Spotify, you can actually listen to them.
1. Mary's Song (Oh My, My, My)
Track number 10 on her debut album, and boy is it beautiful. It tells the story of two friends who end up falling in love and enduring the life of love.
2. Jump Then Fall
This is one of her bonus tracks from her Fearless album but nonetheless catchy and beautiful. It has a more acoustic vibe and echoes a lot of her country vocals.
3. State of Grace
This song was the opening number to her Red tour and probably one of the most beautifully worded songs she has written. It's the kind of song you drive through the town, the windows down, sunglasses on, and the sunset behind you.
4. Come Back... Be Here
Boy and girl get's together, girl falls in love, and boy leaves. The classic love story I've seen many of my friends fall into, and this song will be the best friend to any girl/boy who is going through this.
5. I Know Places
The click goes off in the first second of the song like an old record player and immediately goes into this dark, beautiful melody. This is probably one of the most relatable songs on the album, and it doesn't get enough credit.
6. New Romantics
This was probably the ultimate anthem of my Junior/Senior year, and I thank it everyday for getting me through SAT tests, broken friendships, and the struggle of being a teenager. It's like that happy ending in a book. You were rooting for that character, building a friendship with them, you've seen them at their worst and finally, they get a happily ever after.
7. The Other Side of the Door
Dear boys, just listen to this song and do everything opposite of the guy in that song.
8. Tied Together With A Smile
This is a song that speaks to us when we are looking into a mirror and counting all our flaws. It's a song to cry to when you aren't doing your best. It's also a song to listen to when it rains. Thing is... just take a listen.
9. Crazier
This song appeared on the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack and is still a song I wish to slow dance to with my husband in our living room at three A.M. You'll fall in love with every lyric and vocal of Taylor's.
Fun Fact: Taylor wrote this when she was 13. What are you doing with your life?
10. Long Live
This is the anthem that will be playing when I graduate college as me and my beloved friends go separate ways. This is the song that will be background noise when I look through my yearbooks and old photos with my children later in life. This song... is everything.
11. The Way I Loved You
It's a jam alright. The fast paced and sassiness of Taylor just makes it, and I don't know why it's not talked about more.
12. Hey Stephen
I don't even know why but it's just one of those songs that you can't skip. It's impossible. It's just so catchy and upbeat, yet still has her clever lyrics.
13. I'd Lie
Okay, so this is one of her unreleased songs that I wish would get recorded. Please Taylor. Please record this beauty. In the meantime I will be streaming it from YouTube.
Now, as we await Taylor's next hit album, we will have to settle with streaming her music 24-7 on Spotify in the car, bedroom, bathroom, streets, kitchen, pretty much everywhere -- which I mean, you can't complain about. I've been waiting for this since forever (and always).
