Underpaid Workers In Factories in China

All workers deserve to be paid at least minimum wage of what is stated by their place of employment. Over working employees who are getting underpaid is something that our country should be ashamed of. It's not everyone's fault though, not everyone can be held accountable. It's the leaders of these establishments and the ones calling the shots who should be held accountable. One place of work that currently has underpaid workers is a factory in China that is manufacturing clothing for Ivanka Trump.

The workers at a factory in China who were manufacturing clothing for Ivanka Trump's clothing line were working approximately 60 hours a week and were only getting paid a measly $62 a week. This means that they were paid approximately $1 an hour which is no where near the minimum wage that's set in place. The factory has been audited and has said that they'll try to make some improvements such as hiring more workers, improving training, fixing hazards, and decreasing the amount of overtime the factory employees are working. With this being said though, there was no mention about an increase in pay for the workers.

Even though Ivanka has stated that she has no leadership role in the factory, it's right that she is still in the spotlight for this absurd act because these underpaid workers are producing clothes for her clothing line. She should be aware of the situations at hand that have to do with her and her business. It doesn't matter if she had a management role or any close contact with the factory at all. What matters is that multiple labor laws were broken and her brand is related to that.

Ever since Donald Trump came into office it seems as if he and his family have done more damage to this country than has ever been done before. First it's Trump's travel ban which broke up so many families, put so many lives in danger, and much more. Now, labor laws are being broken, over worked employees aren't getting the pay they need to survive and support their families, and it won't be a sure thing of whether or not any of this will be fixed anytime soon. Not only does this effect Ivanka Trump and her brand, but it also affects all of the United States as well. Instead of assuring the public eye that evasive and immediate measures are being put into place to ensure that this never happens again, nothing of advance action is being done currently, and that shows poor leadership.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
