There has been this long-debated conversation that occurs every year before Thanksgiving. When is it humanly acceptable to blare Christmas music through your car stereo? (Cough. Cough. AFTER Thanksgiving.) While we are on the conversation about Christmas music, allow me to enlighten you on some of the most underappreciated lyrics to the songs that we love to sing!

1. "Mary Did You Know?"

"The child you delivered, would soon deliver you."

2. "We Three Kings"

"Born a babe on Bethlehem's plain. Gold we bring to crown him AGAIN. King forever, ceasing never over us all to reign."

3. "Silent Night"

"Silent night, holy night! Son of God, love's pure light. Radiant beams from Thy holy face. With the dawn of redeeming grace. Jesus Lord, at Thy birth. Jesus Lord, at Thy birth."

4. "Joy to the World"

"He rules the world, with Truth and Grace!"

5. "Baby it's Cold Outside"

"There's bound to be talk tomorrow (think of my lifelong sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied (if you got pneumonia and died)"

6. "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

"Said the king to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace people everywhere."

7. "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"

"You're as cuddly as an eel."

8. "Little Drummer Boy"

"Little baby pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give our King pa rum pum pum pum
Shall I play for you pa rum pum pum pum
On my drum pa rum pum pum pum"

9. "Away in a Manger"

" Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray."

10. "I'll Be Home for Christmas"

"Christmas Eve will find me
where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams."

Remember the reason for this season friends: the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born as a baby in a manger. His beginnings were lowly and yet the purpose of his coming is tremendous and something to be excited for! Say a prayer for the families that can't celebrate with loved ones this year due to work, traveling, and the Military and hold your babies and loved ones close this year. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, family.

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'" Luke 2:8-12 (NIV)

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
