We hear the same old artists each time when we turn on the radio. It's time we change things up a bit. Here is a list of new and upcoming singers that have great music that is worth the change and attention.

1. Troye Sivan

Troye is an Australian singer-songwriter who started off by making videos on YouTube. In 2014, he released an EP titled "TRXYE," which had the popular song "Happy Little Pill." A year later, Troye released his debut album "Blue Neighborhood" which featured hit songs like "Youth" and "Wild" that are dominating the charts.

2. Marina and the Diamonds

Marina is a Welsh singer-songwriter who has hit songs like "Primadonna" and "How to Be a Heartbreaker." You can find any song to fit your mood on her albums "Electra Heart," "The Family Jewels" or "Froot." Fun Fact: The Diamonds aren't her band but actually represent her fanbase!

3. Conrad Sewell

Conrad Ignatius Mario Maximilian Sewell, but better known as Conrad Sewell, is a singer from Brisbane, Australia. He has very soulful ballads which you can really hear in songs like "Start Again" and "Hold Me Up." Fun fact: his sister is "You Don't Own Me" singer Grace. I guess talent just runs in the family.

4. Lolawolf

The group is made up of James Levy, Jimmy Giannopoulos and actress Zoë Kravitz (daughter of Lenny Kravitz). With songs like "AYO" and "Jimmy Franco," the music group has a funky and cool sound. Zoë, the lead singer, has what I can only describe as a chill kind of voice.

5. Shamir

The 21-year-old singer from Las Vegas came on the music scene with the song "On the Regular." Shamir's songs honestly make you want to just get up and dance no matter who's watching.

6. SWMRS

In the early days, the group started off as Emily's Army. As they grew, so did their music style and SWMRS (pronounced Swimmers) came about. The band consists of brothers Cole and Max Becker, Seb Muller and Joey Armstrong (son of Billie Joe Armstrong). The group just recently released their album "Drive North." If you like pop punk you will definitely enjoy SWMRS.

7. Raury

The Georgia singer came onto the music scene when he released his song "God's Whisper." His songs have a great mix of hip-hop and soul and you can tell through songs such as "Devil's Whisper" and "Cigarette Song."

8. With Confidence

This band is made up of Jayden Seeley, Luke Rockets, Inigo Del Carmen and Josh Brozzesi. If you're a fan of bands like All time Low or 5 seconds of Summer, you would sure like With Confidence. Songs like "Keeper" and "Voldemort" leave you feeling good and wanting more.

9. Jazmine Sullivan

You might remember Jazmine from the hit song "Bust Your Windows." Sullivan has such a soulful and strong voice that can put her on top with singers like Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson. Her latest album "Reality Show" came out in 2015 and is packed with great songs like "Let It Burn" and "Masterpiece."

10. Angel Haze

An American rapper from Detroit, she is known for her very "in your face" and raw lyrics. Songs like "A Tribe Called Red" and "Black Dahlia" support that description. She is also very outspoken abut her troubled upbringing, on being raised in a cult and not hearing music until she was in her teenage years.

11. Chloe x Halle

Starting off doing covers on YouTube, Beyonce took notice and put them under her wing. In 2016, they came out with an EP entitled Sugar Symphony. Songs like "Lazy Love," "Drop" and "Thunder" show how these ladies can make it far in the music industry.

12. Kat Dahlia

Dahlia has one rough and raw voice that you can never forget. One of her most notable songs is "Gangsta" which was actually used in a Law and Order SVU episode. Her 2015 album, "My Garden," has excellent songs like "I Think I'm In Love" and "Crazy."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
