The 2000s are a decade many of us hold near and dear to our hearts, even though most of us would like to think we've greatly matured from the days of passing Post-It love notes to our crushes in fourth grade science class. Whether you look back and remember your past self-spending hours perfecting an insanely crimped hairstyle, jamming to Green Day and rocking the Goth look like the true rebel you were, or taking selfies on your digital camera, there is no denying that the 2000s are quite the era to look back on. Contrary to popular belief, some of the most popular trends from the 2000s are far from being declared dead and gone.
Fashion Trends:
The Half Up Ponytail
Thanks to Ariana Grande, this popular 2000s hairstyle is again in the spotlight. A pretty versatile look, this could easily be rocked going to class or going out at night.
Pigtail Braids
Since Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have both recently rocked this look, it is safe to say that pigtail braids have made a comeback and are now socially acceptable even when you're well past the fourth grade.
Choker Necklaces
These black, spider web looking jewelry statements are becoming increasingly popular again. Be careful it doesn't get stuck in your hair like mine did back in the day.
Chunky Black Shoes
The shoes that were looked back on as heinous for years are now considered cutting edge again.
Denim on Denim
A denim button down paired with skinny jeans is no longer an uncommon look to rock. Maybe Britney and Justin had it right all along.
Brightly Colored Hair
Though we are no longer worshiping Avril Lavigne's pink streaked tresses, many are currently rocking pastel and other unnatural hair colors. Demi Lovato's constantly changing hair has shown us blue, pink, and purple are all great looks.
TV Shows:
"Fuller House"
The Tanner family that graced our television sets everyday when we got home from school is finally being welcomed back into our adult lives. After much anticipation, the first season of "Fuller House" is now available on Netflix, featuring much of the same cast as the original "Full House."
" Gilmore Girls"
Our favorite mother-daughter duo of the 2000s is back! The four part revival series does not yet have a set date to air on Netflix, but when it does, we are ready and waiting to return to Stars Hollow and finally get the answers to many important questions about the lives of its residents!
"Boy Meets World"
Corey and Topanga's high school romance flashes forward a couple decades in the revival series "Girl Meets World," which features their daughter now making her way through her high school years.
"American Idol"
The 15th and final season of "American Idol" is currently airing on FOX. Though it's not the same as the days when you were dying to text in your vote at the end of the night, and Randy, Paula, and Simon owned the judges table, the last season may be worth the watch even if only for nostalgia.
More Returns to the Spotlight:
Hilary Duff
Unfortunately this is not the announcement of a "Lizzie McGuire Movie" sequel. However, Hillary's 2015 album Breathe In Breathe Out is one that you will blast on repeat for countless car rides and never grow tired of.
Aaron Carter
In between his time calling out haters and following people back on Twitter, Aaron Carter has been promoting his upcoming new music and world tour.
Hillary Clinton
While we're on the topic of Hillary's, our first lady from the early 2000s is trying to make her way back into the White House, this time as president. To be fair, she is currently serving as U.S. Secretary of State, and because of this it may be safe to say that this Hillary never really left the political spotlight.
A Bush Running for President
Jeb Bush is looking to carry on the family tradition in the White House with the upcoming 2016 election, vying for the spot of Republican nominee.
Gwen Stefani
Gwen has long moved on from her days of assuring people she was no hollaback girl. Her latest hit Used to Love You is another great new jam with that throwback sound to it.
I'd say this list makes it official, folks: the 2000s are sliding back into your DMs. It's pretty apparent that the childhood of a 90s baby is never ending, and on behalf of all of us, thank god for that.
