Valentine's Day is great for everybody. If you have a significant other, it's a great time to spend a special night reconnecting. If you are single, it's the perfect opportunity to spend some time with your friends and get wine drunk while mocking classic Rom-Coms.
However, the dates and Cupid Day events can get pretty repetitive. Dinner dates are great and all, but sometimes it's good to mix things up. Here are some unconventional date ideas to add an extra spark to your day of love this year.
1. Visit your local record store.
GiphyEven if you don't have a record player, searching through old records is a great way to learn more about your S.O. and his or her music taste. It's also cute to reminisce on old songs and albums for your childhood or significant moments in your life. By the way, if you don't have a record player, I highly recommend buying one.
2. Go to the library.
GiphyLibraries are cool, even if you're not an avid reader. If you're looking for something unique to do this Valentine's Day, take your S.O. to the local library and pick out the strangest book you can find, grab a hot cappuccino, find some of those comfy reading chairs and dive in. You never know what you may learn or find.
3. Scrapbook together.
GiphyInstead of taking hours making a scrapbook to give your S.O. as a Valentine's Day gift, try scrapbooking together. Putting together the scrapbook and cutting out old photos and mementos is honestly the best part of the process, and doing it together will take you on a sweet trip down Memory Lane. Also, you can keep the book afterward and add to it every Valentine's Day, making it a tradition.
4. Try something new.
GiphyWhile this list is essentially a compilation of new things for most people, picking out a few new things to try every Valentine's Day can also make for a really cute tradition. Never been ice skating? Go ice skating. Never been to a musical? Go to a musical. You can even create a bucket list of items you want to check off throughout the years to come. There's nothing better than making new memories together that will last.
I wish all of you readers a happy, loving Valentine's Day this year - no matter who you decide to spend it with.
