As you plan for this year's Halloween costume, you can't forget about the one small, creepy mistake that can happen to anyone: choosing to wear an uncomfortable Halloween costume. Whether you're picking a solo, couple, or group costume, anyone can be affected by discomfort.
I don't know about you, but when it comes to Halloween, I strongly believe that the more comfortable the costume, the better. Not being able to bend a certain way or my lung capacity being lessened because of a tight costume is not how I want to spend my night. I am definitely Team "Leggings and a Super Large T-shirt or Sweater" because I want to make sure I am warm throughout a chilly October evening, but I am also physically comfortable because comfort > everything.
Halloween for me is a time to spend time with friends and do a little bit of DIYing, not a time to spend an arm and a leg on a costume. My biggest fear about Halloween isn't about vampires, zombies, or witches trying to cast a spell on me. My biggest fear is wearing a costume that is super uncomfortable. Seriously scary decisions are made when trying to figure out what your Halloween costume will be. You want to be fun, creative, and try not to break the bank all at the same time.
Trying to be comfortable is picking something that isn't too tight, itchy, or too light or heavy of materials that throw your body temperature off wack. No one wants to worry about adjusting your costume because it is too short for your liking or having a reaction to the sequin on your top. I know I don't want to. I want to spend more time on what I am doing. Do you really want to spend your Halloween night shivering or sweating because you decided to not wear enough layers for a cool fall evening or materials that don't breathe so you're sweating in all the wrong places? Uncomfortable Halloween costumes are the unspoken horror that can occur throughout your night, and trying to pick the perfect idea can definitely be a trick or treat. Honestly, I'm surprised there isn't a horror movie based on costumes that go wrong.
This Halloween, make sure to dress how you like, in your perfect costume, and take all the pictures you want. Just make sure you don't go down the dark and mysterious path of discomfort. Uncomfortable Halloween costumes may not be lurking around at night, but they can definitely be chilling in your closet ready to come at you at any moment. Next time you're ready to go to sleep, do a once over of your closet, check under your bed, and make sure you won't be haunted by uncomfortable costumes past. Get spooky with your favorite guys and ghouls this October, but make sure you won't be screaming of terror because your costume doesn't fit as you hoped.
