So it's summertime. Maybe you're a current Tar Heel. Or a future Tar Heel. Or even a Tar Heel alum. Whatever your case may be, we're all looking for new things for us to add to our wardrobe to show off some Tar Heel pride. No matter if you were Tar Heel born or Tar Heel bred, you can show off your school spirit with these awesome items!

1. Essie Nail Polish in "Bikini So Teeny"

After a long search and approximately 12 different shades of light blue nail polish later, the verdict is in: Essie's "Bikini So Teeny" is the PERFECT shade of Carolina blue. This nail polish has been tried and proven true by the ladies of UNC-Chapel Hill's Odyssey team.

2. White Vans or Converse High Tops

Every girl you know has these and they're everywhere. These shoes are comfortable, trendy, and easy to put on in the morning when you're rushing to catch the bus to your 8a.m. class.

3. 2017 Men's Basketball National Championship T-Shirt

It's a workout shirt, pajama shirt, and even a "wear to class with norts" shirt. Every Carolina girl has one and if she doesn't have this exact one, she has a Final Four T-Shirt.

4. UNC Lanyard, Keychain, or Key Fob

A majority of students have one of these. They're super convenient! After one week of keeping my keys on a lanyard — you could tell I was obviously a First Year with no clue that you DON'T wear your keys around your neck — I started to use my lanyard to hold all of the free buttons I accumulated from attending different Carolina events!

5. Carolina Blue Heels

I bought these for my high school graduation because: A) they were Carolina Blue and I was psyched to be a Tar Heel and B) they were on sale at DSW. Every time I've worn them on campus, I've received compliments and tend to get the questioned, "Where are those from!?" With these heels, you too can be the talk of the town with your Tar Heel pride.

These super cute ones are on sale at DSW right now!

6. UNC Logo Alex and Ani Bracelet

I get it, it's basic. But this was my favorite gift when I graduated high school (and still through my first year). And I got multiple. They're just so fun, simple and an easy score for a birthday gift for your roommate or friends!

7. UNC Vera Bradley Tote Bag

I love Vera Bradley. I have two of her duffel bags and received the large UNC tote for my birthday and it's amazing! I used it to carry a blanket to lay on at Polk Place while I did homework and later on during finals week it carried my notebooks, Macbook, chargers, bluebooks and other study materials to study sessions and final exams.

8. Carolina Blue Swimsuit

It's not quite Carolina blue, but I bought this Southern Tide swimsuit this summer and it's so cute and comfortable! I feel like seersucker should so count in this category, especially with how close the blue is to Carolina blue!

If you're online shopping this summer and looking for something new, these 8 things are waiting to join your closet!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
