Missoula: How To Play The Drinking Game Inspired By The Town
Destination Missoula

Editor's Note: Odyssey does not endorse operating a motor vehicle under the influence, nor adhering to the satirical game described below. If you chose to seriously play this game, you will have alcohol poisoning within 10 minutes. You've been warned.

Missoula is a sleeping little college town nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of the great state of Montana. But you know what would make a this little place we call home more exciting? A ridiculous amount of alcohol. And what better way to express your love of Missoula and booze than to combine the two into a drinking game? Gather some friends (21+), your favorite local drink (I suggest Coldsmoke from Kettlehouse, or Quicksilver Vodka from Montgomery Distillery for the the full Missoula flavor), and prepare to not remember this day tomorrow!

Take a Drink...

Every time you see a "Keep Missoula Weird" bumper sticker

Every time you see a Subaru Outback

Whenever someone mentions Jimmy John's

Every time you see an "artisan" burrito place (Taco Sano, Taco Del Sol, etc.)

Whenever someone mentions KBGA

Whenever someone says, "Let's go downtown"

Every time someone mentions the "arts scene"

Every time you see someone wearing Griz gear

Take a Shot...

Every time you see a "Co-Exist" bumper sticker

Whenever you find out something is "vegan"

Every time someone wants to Hike the M

Whenever you see someone from the Local News out in public (two if it's Matt Gray, he deserves a drink)

Every time you see a white guy with dreads

Every time you see a Confederate Flag (why?)

Every time you pass the Missoulian offices

Whenever someone mentions First Friday

Every time someone is "going to see a show"

Anytime someone mentions Jon Krakauer's book (two, if they mention it negatively)

Finish your drink...

Every time you see a Forest Green Subaru Outback (finish your friend's drink if there's a dog in that car)

Every time someone mentions they are vegan

When you learn that OULA is derived from the word "Missoula"

Every time you see a "MisSOULa" sticker

Whenever you see John Engen walking around

Whenever you see Royce Engstrom walking around (and then send him the bill, since he can afford a pay raise, but not to keep some of our best professors)

Whenever you see internet celebrity Hank Green around town

Every time you get the urge to go to the Good Food Store

Whenever Shakewell is the headliner at a music event

Every time there is an event in Caras park

Whenever a fraternity or sorority is doing some sort of public event (it's 2016, do we really need the Greek system?)

Every time you try to turn left on Broadway from Higgins

Whenever something is described as "Organic, locally-sourced"

Anytime someone casually works "A river runs through it" in normal conversation

Buy me a drink...

Wednesdays at the Badlander when I am singing drunk karaoke

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
