The Ultimate Summer Treat

I'm sure you all saw this one coming.

The Ultimate Summer Treat
Anna Quattrone

As many of my fans probably know by now, I am an ice cream enthusiast. I live for pretty ice cream cones and rainbow sprinkles. I love photographing the ice cream I eat. I also enjoy going on ice cream adventures to find the best ice cream shops. Pretty much, if it involves ice cream, count me it.

I’m sure you have all heard by now that July is National Ice Cream Month, with the third Sunday in July being National Ice Cream Day itself. I am here to tell you that ice cream should be celebrated all summer long, if not all year round (that’s how I celebrate). Ice cream is by far the ultimate summer treat for many reasons, but these are mine (illustrated by all my personal ice cream photos because they need to be put to good use),

It’s refreshing

What better way to cool down those hot summer temperatures than with an ice cream cone? It will make you feel cool from the inside out.

So many options!

Which flavor? Cup? Cone? What kind of cone? Sprinkles? Toppings? The list goes on and on and it begins with the endless possibilities of flavors. Everyone has their go to, but it's always good to try new ones as well. What's your favorite flavor?

It’s photogenic

I

f I don’t photograph my ice cream, did I really eat it? My camera roll is in fact filled with all different sorts of ice cream treats (clearly). It’s not my fault they’re so photogenic.

You can find it anywhere

In your hometown: plenty of ice cream places. At the beach: more ice cream options. Randomly on the side of a road or highway: ice cream shop. Outside of the country: foreign ice cream places (like the Costa Rican ice cream featured in this photo). They’re everywhere, you just have to look. Also, stop looking past that sketchy looking ice cream shack you drive by every once in awhile, sometimes they can be a hidden gem.

It can fix almost any situation

Failed a test, wrecked the car, boyfriend broke up with you, gained 10 pounds? OK, I guess ice cream doesn’t necessarily fix the problem itself. Although, it can make you forget about the situation for a little and that is close enough, right?

It brings people together

Very rarely is the question, “Do you want to go get ice cream?” answered with a no. Even the lactose intolerants can’t say no. At least in my experiences, an ice cream adventure can bring together even the most unlikely groups of people.

You can make it at home

Quick, easy, and simple. Always keep a backup carton of ice cream in the freezer for emergencies. That way you have it close by at all times. (If you’re looking for more of a challenge Pinterest is a great source for homemade ice cream recipes).

Soothes a sore throat

That means you can still eat ice cream when you’re sick? Who’s the mastermind behind this miracle treat, seriously?

Doctor: Have you been drinking your milk?

Me: Yes...

Easy clean up! (cone=edible bowl)

Can’t argue with that one. Although it is not always easy and clean when you eat a cone in 90 degree weather, but with some practice you can be a pro ice cream eater in no time.

Sure to put a smile on your face

I don’t know about you, but I find it extremely hard to be sad or mad while eating ice cream. That is why I prefer to call it happiness in a cone.

You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
