Summer time is arguably one of the best times of the year (other than Christmas, obviously), and spending time with friends becomes an everyday occurrence.

Long road trips to a lake cabin or short drives through town always deserve music that puts you in a good mood. Even campfires by the beach deserve good head bopping and toe tapping tunes to put the cherry on top of summertime.

1. "Leavin'" by Jesse McCartney

Jesse McCartney was the Justin Beiber of our generation.

2. "Party In The U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus

3. "Burnin' Up" by the Jonas Brothers

The Jonas Brothers had some pretty great hits, but I think this tops them all.

4. "Pocketful of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield

This is the kind of song that you hear once and then is stuck in your head for days on end. But it's still fun to listen to.

5. "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado and Timbaland

6. "Don't Cha" by The Pussycat Dolls

7. "Toxic" by Britney Spears

8. "Girlfriend' by Avril Lavigne

Whether you believe this is from the real Avril Lavigne or from the look alike, this song is still a bop.

9. "What the Hell" by Avril Lavigne

10. "So What" by P!nk

P!nk had some awesome jams and still does. Plus, she's an amazing performer.

11. "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" by Selena Gomez and The Scene

12. "Year 3000" by the Jonas Brothers

13. "Hoedown Throwdown" by Miley Cyrus

This is hands down the best song from the Hannah Montana movie and always makes me want to dance.

14. "It's Gonna Be Me" by *NSYNC

15. "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" by the Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys were hands down the best boy band of the 2000's. Please don't fight me on this one.

16. "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne

17. "Replay" by Iyaz

18. "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" by T-Pain and Yung Joc

19. "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers

20. "Fergalicious" by Fergie and will.i.am

21. "Gives You Hell" by The All-American Rejects

This song by The All-American Rejects is always fun to jam to and is guaranteed to put anyone in a good mood.

22. "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz

This song played at every single middle school dance I went to and I still know the entire thing word for word.

23. "BedRock" by Young Money and Lloyd

24. "Cooler Than Me - Single Mix" by Mike Posner and Gigamesh

25. "Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj

Nicki is the queen of rap and that's all I have to say about that.

26. "Tonight Tonight" by Hot Chelle Rae

27. "Stereo Hearts" by Gym Class Heroes and Adam Levine

28. "Pretty Girl Rock" by Keri Hilson

29. "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani

30. "Piece of Me" by Britney Spears

Here is the entire playlist on Spotify as well. Enjoy!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
