For reality TV lovers, TLC has it all. It seems as if they come up with a new idea for a show every week. TLC is best paired with a pint of Ben and Jerry's and no plans for the entire night. As a proud TLC follower, I've compiled an ultimate ranking of TLC shows.
9. "7 Little Johnstons"
The Johnstons are a unique family. Each of them has dwarfism, but they are just like any other family. While the "7 Little Johnstons" illustrates a strong, unique family bond, the episodes are not very eventful, which is why it is low on this list.
8. "Cake Boss"
I challenge you to watch this show without having your mouth water. Following Buddy's family-owned business based out of New Jersey is a good way to spend your Saturday night in, especially if you're into baking. Whether you're getting ideas for your own future wedding cake or just enjoying the fabulous New Jersey accents and drama, "Cake Boss" is a great pick.
7. "19 Kids and Counting"
A TLC classic, "19 Kids and Counting" follows an extremely large, religious family through their daily affairs. If you're fascinated (and also a little disturbed) by the unique family dynamic, "19 Kids and Counting" can definitely be a time suck. The allegations surrounding Josh Duggar have cast a negative view of the show -- and resulted in the show's cancellation -- and many question their values, which is why it is low on this list.
6. "Kate Plus 8"
Tune into Kate Gosselin and her life with eight children following her divorce from her husband John. The most shocking aspect of this show is how Kate looks after all the plastic surgery she's had. I have to admit, it's pretty entertaining watching Kate throw a fit while attempting to parent teenagers.
5. "Long Island Medium"
Theresa Caputo is one of the most fabulous mediums that ever existed. With big blond hair and long acrylic nails, it's easy to point her out in a crowd. Theresa is famous for approaching people out in public and communicating messages from their deceased loved ones. While many viewers who don't believe in mediums hate this show, it makes me cry on a regular basis.
4. "My Big Fat Fabulous Life"
A lot of people have mixed feelings about this show, but Whitney is sending out nothing but positivity with her no body shame campaign. She also has some pretty sweet dance moves. Whitney doesn't hide anything from her audience, she lays out all her cards on the table, which is why I find her so admirable. Whitney is challenging our standard of beauty one hip thrust at a time.
3. "90 Day Fiancé"
Does she actually love him, or is she just searching for a green card? This is the puzzle posed by this fairly new dramatic TLC show. Watching several people from other countries adjust to American culture and their new lovers is definitely entertaining. You can even witness a 19-year-old marrying someone in his late 50s. Ick.
2. "Sister Wives"
"Sister Wives" is a guilty pleasure that I'm willing to admit. It fascinates me that one man (an arrogant man, might I add) can juggle four wives and 17 children. The family dynamic is anything but normal, and the occasional dramatic event definitely shakes things up. I think the main reason I continue to watch this show is the amount of questions I still have. For example, why hasn't murder spurred from jealousy been committed yet?!
1. "Say Yes to the Dress" (Atlanta and New York)
With Monte, Randy, Lori, Pnina, and whole salon full of beautiful wedding gowns and emotional women, it's almost impossible to not find pleasure in "Say Yes to the Dress." This show is famous for mother-daughter battles, sassy siblings, and opinionated bridesmaids. It's safe to say tears can definitely be shed watching the bride find her dream gown. Thanks to the hours upon hours I've spent watching this show, I know exactly what style dress I want for my own wedding, whenever that may be. "Say Yes to the Dress" may have implanted some unrealistic expectations in my head, but it still trumps all.
