The Ultimate Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I just wanted to start off by saying thank you—thank you for the many blessings You've given me. Thank you for giving me life and love. Thank you for blessing me with a roof over my head and food to eat. Thank you for giving me a family who loves me and friends who will never leave my side. Thank you for always giving me what I need and not what I want. Thank you for always showing me kindness and grace even when I try to go my own way. Lord, I thank you so very much for never leaving my side—for always carrying me when I’ve lost my footing—for always giving me strength when I feel I have nothing left. Thank you for surrounding me with your love, even when I only hate.

Lord, I pray that you heal the people who are hurting right now. I pray that you send them comfort and peace. I pray that you give them the answers to questions that seem to have a hold at their heart. I pray that they never lose sight of you and that their faith grows stronger even in times of trouble. I pray that they lean on you and not on their own understandings. I pray that they understand that what you take away you will give back twice as much. Lord, I pray that whenever you send a speed bump their way that they know it's all part of your plan for them.

Lord, I pray that you keep the men and women safe that fight for my freedom. I pray that you never let me forget the ones who died trying to keep me safe. I pray that you never let me take life for granted. I pray that you always keep my heart and mind open and humble. I pray that you give me the strength to always love others even when they have done me wrong. I pray that you keep me in the state of forgiveness for you have forgiven me so many times. I pray that you give me the capability to let things go. I pray that you help me give you all my worries and stress for you have already paid for those. I pray that when I feel in turmoil that I always look to you for answers.

Lord, your love is unconditional and unexplainable. Your love is overpowering and uplifting. Your love is vaster than all the oceans combined and deeper than anything on Earth. Lord, thank you for loving me. For seeing me as perfect and beautiful even when I don't feel like it. Thank you for taking your time creating me and knowing every single hair on my head. Thank you for putting me on a pedestal and claiming me as yours. Thank you for loving me just as I am and never asking me to change. Lord, thank you for all that you've done for me.

Amen.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
