The Ultimate Morgantown Bar Bucket List

How many can you cross off your list?

If you are like me, a senior in denial of leaving this wonderful blue and gold town, that is trying to make the most of her last lap. It shouldn't be too hard because there is always something going on at West Virginia University. Here, let me guide you. (Must be 21 to continue reading...)

Below is a bucket list that all true Mountaineers should have completed before decorating their graduation caps and walking across the Coliseum stage in May:

1. Going on a Bar Crawl with The Rubber U.

Going on a bar crawl with your best friends is such a fun memory that you're sure to forget. But hey, if you make it to the last bar, you should have a t-shirt to show for it. Plus you get to dress up.

2. Taco Tuesday at Fat Daddy's.

Loaded marg pitchers and $2 tacos...It's going up on a Tuesday, alright. Plus there is no cover. Fat's is always a hot spot, but they're known for their Tuesday deals.

3. Karaoke at Backdoor.

Every Wednesday like clockwork the Backdoor has karaoke. Some people that sing are actually pretty good. (cough me, cough) This is the only time you'll get to hear my rendition of Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks. Plus, no one is going to judge you for singing Bohemian Rhapsody two times in a row. Also, a special shoutout to the backdoor pasta salad for making me feel some type of special way.

4. Take a Jameson's shot at Jameson's.

$3.50 every day. Also, they have happy hour every weekday 4-7PM. Half-off appetizers and drinks. You're welcome. Also not to mention Jameson's has karaoke every Friday night. You'll know where to find me and my squad.

5. Brunch at Iron Horse on Sunday.

This is my destination on Sundays. Heck, I enjoy Sunday mornings more than I do Saturday nights. Bottomless, that's right, bottomless mimosas, are only $12 at Iron Horse for Sunday brunch. Not to mention that they have captain crunch french toast sticks if you're into that sort of thing. Which, who wouldn't be?

6. The Canteen.

Stop by the campus neighborhood bar for a $3 mimosa all day, every day. It's so conveniently close you could slip in and have a cold brewski in between classes. (I am not condoning this behavior, It's just an observation.)

7. Joe's Thursdays.

After being oppressed for decades, girls get in for free, which is great. Ask my good friend, Madblack, Joe's is the place to be on Thursdays. This is the day you can reach into your pocket and pull out mere pocket change and still manage to go out and have a legendary night with your friends.

8. The Vintage Room.

If you don't feel like going to Joe's, you should stop by The Vintage Room located below Bent Willey's on Thursdays for 2-4-1 mojitos with your brojitos. Nothing is more refreshing than a strawberry mojito on a Thursday evening after staring at a computer screen for the past 72 hours of your life. Treat yo-self. Their cheesecake is also the bomb.

9. Spin the wheel at Big Time's.

There's no better caper to great night in Morgantown than spinning the wheel with your fellow degenerates. For only $2.50 you could get a delicious shot like a Sweedish Fish shot or you could get something like rail tequila that should probably be used to strip rust and grease from used car parts, but it's all in good fun.

10. Watch a big game at Spage.

I personally love the atmosphere in Spage. Spage is the place if you want to go and watch a big game or just have a casual delicious meal of quesadillas and bottled Budlights for dessert. Most people love their wings and if you choose this to be your happy hour destination, make sure you get there an ample thirty minutes ahead of time.

11. Rainbow shots at 4th N Goal.

Rainbow shots were truly a discovery that changed the game for me and my good friend Naenae Chapman. For only $10 you can get 7 shots at 4th N Goal, and the best part is, they are all different colors.

12. Get a fishbowl from Mario's.

At two convenient locations, get yourself to Mario's and enjoy an ice-cold fish bowl bigger than your head. What a great day to celebrate or mourn your GPA.

Make sure to cross these must-do's off your list before completing the last lap. You won't regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
