Social media all over the world is going to be crowded with Star Wars everything for weeks to come. "The Force Awakens" will reach many milestones in the world of Star Wars. It is the first time Star Wars has hit the big screens in 10 years. It is the first time the Millennium Falcon has flown in 32 years.
One of the most exciting things for me personally is that it is the first major Lucasfilm motion picture since its acquisition by the Walt Disney Company. My favorite Disney princess movie has officially changed from "Tangled" to "Star Wars." That’s right! Our favorite galactic royal, Princess Leia, is now a Disney princess. And yes, I know she isn’t on the official Disney princess roster, but she is still my favorite Disney Princess.
After watching "Tangled" for the millionth time, I realized that Leia and Rapunzel both have a thing for vest-wearing, wanted criminals. Then it hit me! Princess Leia is the ultimate Disney princess because she has shares traits with most of our favorite Disney princesses. See for yourself.
Aurora of Alderaan
Both Leia and Aurora were taken to faraway lands almost immediately after their birth to families that would raise them and keep them safe from the evil Sith dragon people. Leia went to Bail Organa and Queen Breha Organa of Alderaan and Aurora went to Flora Fauna, and Merryweather of the forest.
Ariel the Leia Mermaid
They can both rock the bikini top and are trapped by a fat ugly creature with a raspy voice. Can you see the resemblance between Jaba and Ursula? Because I totally can.
Leia is a Beast
Not only is Leia hotter than Hot Cheetos, she is also extremely smart, just like our favorite royal bookworm, Belle. Leia has obviously studied her strategy books and uses her knowledge to help the Rebel Alliance against the Empire. Also, both of them have crazy inventor fathers. Maurice makes gadgets and gizmos while Anakin builds light sabers, droids and many other exciting things.
Sass Level is Out of the World
Throughout "Aladdin" we see Jasmine, sass all the male characters she encounters. She doesn’t let the men in her life boss her around. She isn’t afraid to sass them with lines like telling Jafar “At least some good will come of my being forced to marry. When I am Queen, I will have the power to get rid of you”. Leia’s wonderfully sassy comments include the classic “”I’d just as soon kiss a Wookiee” and calling Han a “laser brain”.
Fa Leia
Like Mulan, Leia is a warrior. Mulan saves China with her fellow warriors. Leia, along with her friends and other Rebels, saves the entire galaxy from the Empire.
RapunzeLeia
As I said earlier, they both have the same taste in men. They start off as a couple who hates each other and then they fall in love. SO CUTE.
