Here is what you actually need and none of what you don't.

In the coming week, I have to pack up my entire life and move out of my dorm, which has been my home for the past year. A year ago, when I began buying my college dorm room "necessities," I looked up online and watched countless YouTube videos about what exactly I needed to buy for college. People tell you to buy so many things and it is always different. I have combined a list of 25 items that you will actually need and that will not just take up space.

1. An iron, not a steamer

Pinterest

Everyone always says bring a steamer. Highly recommend bringing an iron instead due to the fact that steamers can get annoying and messy and only use filtered water which is hard to come by in the dorm.

2. Mattress pad

Pinterest

Thank me later for this one.

3. An ottoman

Pinterest

A place to hide away mess and things you don't really have a place for, like, pads and tampons, ladies.

4. Wall decorations

Pinterest

Make that prison cell looking room come to life and look cute.

5. Planner

Pinterest

This will literally save your life.

6. Stapler

Pinterest

May seem obvious but you would be surprised.

7. Small fan

Pinterest

Trust me this is very important.

8. Bed risers

Pinterest

Beds don't always loft, mine did not.

9. Broom and dust pan

Pinterest

Don't forget it, I did.

10. Rug

Pinterest

Hardwood floors are not your friend.

11. Detergent pods

Pinterest

Waste of time and space to buy liquid detergent.

12. Can opener

Pinterest

Might seem random and unimportant but trust me it WILL be needed.

13. Plastic silverware

Pinterest

Washing dishes is a pain, don't do it.

14. Brita water filter

Pinterest

Water at college is gross, filter the nasty out.

15. Disinfectant wipes

Pinterest

Especially needed on move in day. Don't know who did what in their before you.

16. Paper towels

Pinterest

Another thing that is easily forgotten about.

17. Stain remover

Pinterest

Personally recommend getting simple green, will change your life.

18. Ramen noodles or soup cans

Pinterest

Late night munchies are a REAL thing.

19. Bath robe

Pinterest

Walking to the shower in your towel is uncomfortable, don't do it.

20. Shower flip flops

Pinterest

Don't be that person in the shower with no shoes on, it's gross.

21. Nice clothes

Pinterest

There will come a time where you will want something nicer to wear instead of t-shift, legging, and shorts.

22. Plenty of socks and underwear

Pinterest

Laundry piles up quickly and you will probably not always have enough time to deal with it.

23. Advil and allergy medicine

Pinterest

HUGE necessity!

24. Umbrella and rain jacket

Pinterest

Walking to class in the rain with your laptop in your backpack is a disaster waiting to happen, avoid at all costs.

25. Small trashcan

Pinterest

Don't wanna get into fights with your roommate over who is gonna take the trash out? Solution is to bring your own and don't share.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
