5 Things You Do When Your Best Friend Is Your Roommate

Whether you have known each other your entire lives or met each other freshman year, you know you're stuck with each other. You took the plunge and signed the lease and now your best friend is also your roommate and sometimes that means you have to steal their toothpaste and overlook it when they forget to refill the ice tray. It is a special situation and should be treated as such. When your roommate is your best pal you get away with a lot more than you would if you lived with strangers. It might be tough to adapt to a new, adult lifestyle (complete with responsibilities and stuff) but at least you know that they can't leave your side!

Here are 5 things you do when your best friend is your roommate:

1. Eating Until You Wish You Were Dead

So. Much. Eating. We can't stop! When you live with your best friend you know that you always have someone to split the bill with - so why not get the large pizza? We bake cookies and take turns attempting to imitate Pinterest recipes. You also don't feel the need to not disgust the person across the room from you with your excessive snacking and sighs of satisfaction, because it will be them in the next half-hour

2. Crying Over Another Dead Fictional Character

You don't care about disgusting them and you certainly don't feel bad about making them make you feel better. Whether the tears are spilling because of school, money, family, or even just because of Grey's Anatomy, your best friend is always there to get ya through.

3. Fighting Over Really Important Issues.... Like Where To Eat Dinner

Whether you yell or send very passive aggressive texts, every pair of roommates fight. Fights occur less when you live with someone you like, but when they do happen the entire house remains silent for at least two hours.

4. Sharing Closets

Whether or not my roommate knows or finds out weeks later, we share closets. Or at least, I share hers. Why wouldn't I want to double the amount of things to try on and change my mind about?

5. Doing Nothing

We spend a very large portion of our days doing absolutely nothing. I guess watching TV can be considered productive if we make a sizable enough dent in our recordings on DVR? Sitting on the floor and listening to music and showing each other funny pictures on Twitter is considered studying pop culture...right?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
