It’s very easy to learn.
The ukulele is a fairly basic instrument that still sounds fantastic. The chords Am, F, C, and G are the four easiest to learn, and with them you will be able to play the vast majority of songs that have ever been written. Once you learn these, you’ve basically already mastered the uke!
They are less expensive than some other instruments
You can buy your very own ukulele starter kit (including instrument, case, and tuner) for about $40 at some larger music store chains!! Can’t say that about a good guitar or a drum set!The fancier brands can get more expensive, but you can make the decision to buy one of these once you have discovered your undeniable love for the uke!
They have become part of the indie movement
Honestly, people that play the ukulele are pretty darn cool. And it is now trendier than ever before to own one of these little musical pretties and play it with style. You’ll be the envy of all of your less-hippie friends.
Easy to carry
You can quite literally bring ukuleles anywhere. They are easy to pack into the back of cramped cars and squeeze into little spaces!
Great for road trips/ vacations
Reason number four also means you can take your new best friend (and trust me, it will be) on trips with your loved ones! Picture sitting with your uke around a bonfire on the beach during a beautifully crisp summer evening surrounded with friends and family. Doesn’t that sound appealing?!
You’ll make your crush swoon
Nothing is hotter than being able to play an instrument, and the uke has that sort of cute but edgy and exotic vibe that people find very appealing! Play a song for your crush, and I guarantee they will be going gaga over you by the end of the first verse.
Calluses aren’t as bad because the strings are plastic!
Playing string instruments can sometimes be a pain due to the extra skin that forms over your fingertips. But, ukulele strings are made of plastic and not wire, so the formation of these calluses is greatly reduced!
Banjolele…!!!
This glorious instrument definitely takes the cake as the greatest invention since sliced bread. It is tuned like a uke, but sounds like a banjo!! You’re basically playing two instruments at once, which is Pretty. Frickin. Awesome.
Great doorway to learning more complicated instruments
Once you have gathered all the ukulele knowledge you can muster, it will be easier for you to learn how to play larger instruments with more strings, such as the guitar, banjo, and mandolin. But, if you’re like me, you may just want to stick with the good ole’ uke because it is by far the greatest instrument of them all.
