Teenage girls and even guys have been fan-girling over these "Victoria's Secret Angels" since the first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 1995. Who wouldn't? They are absolutely stunning women with amazing bodies.
The 2015 fashion show took place just a few days ago on December 8th in the "Big Apple," New York City. The fashion show starred 15 "Angels" and 11 first-timers.
You can not deny that these women are sexy, people strive to look like them.
Keep in mind, these women are all at least 5'10 and taller.
Reality check: it's not possible.
After watching the fashion show myself, I was looking through social media accounts. The amount of tweets saying, " I wish I looked like her" or, " I need to go to the gym," were unreal.
Ladies: Every woman is different. The body shape you have, is the body shape you were born with. Embrace it. Love it. Love yourself for who you are.
Guys: Real women do not look like these Victoria's Secret "Angels." DO NOT compare every woman who walks by you, to a Victoria's Secret Angel. It just is not realistic.
The things these "Angels" go through to walk down the runway are unhealthy. Their live's are not all glamour and perfection.
Victoria's Secret "Angel" model Adriana Lima released her extreme "Victorias Secret fashion show diet" to the public. She talked about seeing a nutritionist. He measured her body's muscle mass, fat ratio and levels of water retention, along with many other absurd factors.
The diet she was told to follow was unrealistic.
1. She starts off with protein shakes, vitamins and supplements - ONLY to keep her energy up before the fashion show.
2. Add on a gallon of water a day
3. Nine days before the show, any solid food is forbidden. The protein shakes turn into powdered eggs.
4. Two days before the show, forget the gallon of water and just "drink normally."
5. 12 hours before the fashion show, there is no food or liquids.
A person's health and well-being should be the first priority to anyone, even these Victoria's Secret "Angels." These "Angels" are encouraging starvation in already self-conscious, developing teenage girls.
Body- image is a huge problem in today's society, perhaps because media makes it seem like everyone should wear a size 00 jeans with "D" cup breasts. The society we live in today is so unrealistic, just like these Victoria's Secret "Angels."
To the men and women out there struggling with this whole concept...
Love yourself. Love your body.
Do not compare yourself to others.
Embrace what you have and who you are.
