When having sisters you know all too well what it's like to compare yourself to them. You get upset over small things like how they look in a dress you know would awful on you. Or how they look awesome in a picture but you look like a potato. We're all guilty of it.

I have one younger sister who is probably one of the prettiest girls you'll ever see, and then there's me. Even in the clothes she wears on her "lazy days," next to her I look like a man. It's annoying.

Being the "ugly sister" is a blessing and a curse. It really depends on how you look at it. For me, it depends on the day.

Now you're probably thinking, "How could being ugly be a blessing?" Well for me it is when guys my age hit on my little sister. (Keep in mind she's 16 and I'm almost 21.) "Hey who's that hot chick in your snap story?!" That's when big sister mode kicks in. "Oh, you mean my 16-YEAR-OLD sister." Most stop after that, but a few keep asking for her number or snapchat. And after about the second question is when I get mean and they back off. So if being ugly and threatening means I protect my sister from douche bags, then I'm okay with it.

The curse part sometimes over powers the capability of making guys back up and think about their recent life choices. You don't really notice until you start looking at pictures from family gatherings, or selfies you guys have taken. It kinda hits you, and then you start to notice all the guys looking at her when you're at the mall.

If you're anything like me, it will hurt. To sit there and think that you're the ugly one out of the two of you. But I promise you, it's not that one is ugly than the other. Your perspectives are different. Where you think she looks better in something, she thinks the same thing. That dress you're wearing, she might wish she can rock it like you do. She's seeing guys look at you when you're watching guys do the same thing to her.

You are two different people, not one is uglier than the other.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
