1. Bounce back road game for Fromm
The last game in hostile territory that Fromm played was in Baton Rouge against the LSU Tigers and it did not go well. Fromm struggled throughout the whole game and the play calling was questionable on both offense and defense throughout. Fromm played well a year ago on the road and UGA fans hope to see him replicate that success instead of faltering once again.
2. Quarterback distribution
Justin Fields took very few snaps against LSU and that was met by much criticism by UGA fans. Fields is going to be more involved in Jacksonville and he should be a more key part of the offense moving forward. The Dawgs need to utilize their strengths and assets more efficiently moving forward and that starts with the most popular position. Expect more sets with Fields against Kentucky in an attempt to confuse a powerful defense.
3. Offensive line
The Georgia offensive line has been battered and bruised all season long but it hasn't forced many guys to miss games. Solomon Kindley suffered a scary ankle injury and was carted off the field only a few weeks ago. He has fortunately returned. Cade Mays has been pushed into a starting role due to injuries as well. Georgia's offensive line is one of the biggest in the nation and they will need to push that weight around and control the line of scrimmage.
4. Inside linebackers
Replacing Roquan Smith has not been an easy task for the Georgia defense. The team is using a "linebacker by committee" approach alongside Smith's former running mate Natrez Patrick. The defense has fared well with this tactic but it is easy to see the gap left behind. Opponent's rushing attacks tend to take a physical toll and they sorely miss Smith's ability to go sideline to sideline in the blink of an eye. The Georgia linebackers will need to be quick and decisive in their movements in order to stop a high powered Kentucky offense.
5. Play calling
In the LSU contest, Kirby Smart called a fake field goal attempt on a fourth down play. The ball was tossed to the kicker, Rodrigo Blankenship, who scrambled to try and get the first down. Blankenship, however, ended up coughing up the football resulting in a turnover. That one play sucked all of the momentum out of the Georgia team and started a massive downward spiral throughout the game. The play calls flipped from conservative to aggressive seemingly at all the wrong times. The run game was working but then came the pass plays that did not. Watch for more conservative and consistent play calls at least at the start the Kentucky game.
6. Pass rush
The UGA pass rushers came alive in spurts against LSU. That was the type of dominance that the unit had been missing all season. The rest of the team just wasn't able to put it together the rest of the way. This unit may have finally figured it out. Look for aggression and consistency from those big guys up front.
7. Running back carries
The top two running backs for UGA have been splitting carries ever since the start of the season. Elijah Holyfield and DeAndre Swift have gotten the bulk of the load. Swift was highly regarded coming into the season and was projected to win the starting job by a mile. The past few weeks have seen Holyfield gain on him and even eclipse him in carries. This looks to be a trend going forward and Holyfield seems to be able to hold up through all the contact he takes being a power back. Expect a slight edge in carries as Georgia goes into another match in hostile territory.
