UGA student, Min Seok Cho, died Tuesday after being rushed to Athens Regional Medical Center. The Athens-Clarke County police spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow said, "Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim met the person or persons responsible for the shooting to exchange marijuana.”
Cho was pronounced dead upon arriving at Athens Regional. His body was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for an autopsy. The UGA Police, Athens-Clarke County Police, and Georgia Bureau of investigation are all working on this case.
As a result, two people were arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder. Athens residents Cormaine Goss, 21, and Andre Ruff, 18, face felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony charges.
Such violence after UGA students have just returned to campus has everyone a little rattled. It is a stark reminder that UGA isn’t an isolated campus and that students should be alert wherever they go.
