When I decided to accept my AroundCampus Group internship I had no idea what I was in for. The days were long and the scorching Richmond sun was unforgiving. Throughout the day I visited approximately 38 businesses per day and I was lucky if I met with eight or nine business owners or who we salespeople like to call "decision makers". I met so many people from so many walks a life and it was truly an experience I will never forget.

What I am most excited to tell you about is the new hot college app called UConnection. I had the ability to sell this app to restaurants and bars in the Richmond area for both the University of Richmond community as well as the Virginia Commonwealth University community. With a valid .edu address anyone can create an account on the app and unlock all of the features of the app! Scroll down to check it out!

Home Page

The homepage shows every restaurant that is within a 25-mile radius of your current location. The restaurant at the top is the restaurant closest to your location. So if you live in a college town that isn't your specific college you can still access those deals!

Kickoff Days

In Richmond we are having 22 restaurants offer aggressive exclusive deals. The schedule is below! But you'll have to download the app to figure out the deal. I heard a restaurant is doing Buy on get one free gourmet burgers. Oh and a little birdie told me that there's half off entrées with a purchase of a margarita. But, you'll have to download UConnection to find the restaurant!

Exclusive Deals

Most restaurants on the app offer exclusive deals to the students, faculty and staff, and alumni. All the deals range from just 10% off the total bill or even a Buy One Get One deal! An exclusive deal is marked by a black banner that says exclusive.

To use the deal you just click on it and this screen will come up. You hit the button and BOOM it's used and it'll calculate your total savings under your account.

Your account

You will have an account on the app which you will be able to use to connect with friends and to collect your favorite restaurants. We are currently in 534 college towns in the United States so I'm sure your favorite restaurant is on there somewhere! Under your account, it will also tabulate your savings so that in a few months you can see how much you have saved overall!

Reviews, posting photos, and so much more!

The app has a ton to offer. There is no reason that any college student should be without it. Enjoy and happy eating!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
