Luke Gatti became an overnight legend -- if you want to use that term -- when he drunkenly demanded "bacon jalapeno mac 'n cheese" at the University of Connecticut student union.
After being refused service for openly drinking alcohol at the school cafeteria, Gatti threw what is nothing short of a full-blown tantrum. Gatti is seen shouting anti-gay, vulgar, offensive remarks to employees and even shoving the manager. Other university students tried to console him and de-escalate the situation but Gatti pushed them away as well. He was eventually arrested by UConn police.
So what do you do as a witness to such a pathetic incident? Record it on your phone, obviously. If you haven't watched the video by now (which would be shocking since it's been covered by every major news outlet in the area), you can watch it here.
I've watched this video twice now and cannot get over the ridiculousness of it. Here's what I was thinking while I watched, and I'm sure many of you can agree.
1. What is he drinking?
Seriously though. It takes a lot of beers to get that rowdy over macaroni and cheese...
2. Where are his friends?
I'd be very surprised if he was drinking by himself. Usually the decision to go get drunk food is a group consensus, so chances are his friends were watching. I think it's time he found some new friends.
3. How many times is he gonna say "bacon jalapeno mac 'n cheese"?
We all understand that's what he wanted, but reiterating the specific menu item isn't getting you anywhere, buddy.
4. This manager has some serious self-control.
Props to that guy for not punching the kid in the face; I'm sure managing the cafeteria isn't a fun job in itself and mac 'n cheese boy isn't making it any better.
5. There are at least 50 people watching this happen right now...
Fifty people watching this occur, and no one has a solution? NO ONE?! Come on. Also, who is letting this turn into such a spectacle?
6. I can't believe this person is still recording this.
I understand that this video is "legendary" and "pure gold" but I just thought that somebody would have stopped him by now? Also video-taping sir, you kinda suck.
7. Wait...are they allowed to do that?
Was anyone else shocked when the two employees tackled the young gentleman (gentleman being used lightly) to the floor? Is that legal? Maybe it's OK to tackle him, but did anyone see how they poked him in the eyes? Why is this still happening, why is this even a thing?
8. Why won't they just give him his bacon jalapeno mac 'n cheese!!
Isn't that the simplest solution to this mess? Not that what Luke Giatti did was right but, can you blame him? All the kid wanted was some food, doesn't seem like too much to ask.
