10 Thank You's To The Friends Who Study With You

We all know what those late nights feel like.

No, I'm not talking about those fun late nights where you adventure with your friends until three in the morning. I'm talking about those late nights when you magically write an eight page paper, those late nights when you learn all ten chapters of classical mechanics, those late nights when you painstakingly become an expert in all things about the endocrine system.

Those late nights (early mornings) would not be possible without the late-night study buddies by your side, study-grinding away right next to you or, at times, taking a nap, watching stupid videos, and laughing at funny gifs with you. They most likely aren't even studying for the same subject as you. They're just the type of friends you want by your side through the good times and bad (bad meaning at four in the morning when you still haven't finished your essay that's due in five hours).

In light of those friends that physically and mentally feel the same pain as you do while studying/writing a paper/cramming for finals (or in procrastinating from doing so), here are 10 thank yous.

1. Thanks for going on late night food runs.

The friends that understand yes, you just sat down to study, but food is a necessary component for survival while studying.

2. Thanks for "waking me up in ten minutes."

Because let's be real, I would sleep right through that alarm.

3. Thanks for physically taking my phone away so I can focus on getting through at least one chapter of material.

Because sometimes, airplane mode just isn't enough.

4. Thanks for letting me fall asleep in your room at questionable hours.

5. Thanks for watching the sun rise with me.

Well hello there, Mr. Sun. We weren't expecting to see you there this early.

6. Thanks for understanding the struggle of finding just the right playlist to listen to, and not Snap-chatting me (all the time) when I dance to it.

Usually involving One Direction or Justin Bieber's new album as the hours get later.

7. Thanks for not judging my coffee intake.

Three cups a day keeps the finals blues away.

8. Thanks for putting up with me when the caffeine kicks in.

Not all the energy goes toward studying.

9. Thanks for encouraging me when I'm going to give up.

10. Overall, thanks for just being willing to study with me.

You make the late nights/early mornings bearable.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
