Uber MNL Tips

If you've ever had a night out in 2016, you've probably ridden in an uber back home. Luckily (or maybe not-so-luckily), most of us just have a standard ride - either awkwardly, silently, or weirdly talkative. But nothing extreme happens, right? You're just grateful for the person who gives up their early Saturday mornings to drive your sloppy self home, but sometimes I bet you wish you had a wild story about your ride home. Here are nine stories to make you count your blessings next time you have an uneventful Uber ride.

1. So I was waiting with a friend in our small college town outside of a bar. This car pulled up with rims and blacked out windows. His window was down so I asked his name and he told us to get in but don't use the door on the drivers side (police were standing on that side because that's were you exits the bar) so we got in and there was a guy in the passengers seat. We started driving and the passenger started rolling up a brown paper bag, and started counting stacks of money in the front set. The driver was high as a kite, could barely form a sentence and would laugh at himself. I would say, "Take a right here," and he would say he didn't see a road.

- Amanda from Mississippi

2. There's an Uber driver at my school who like bumps music and has lights and stuff in his car. And he posts on Insta constantly (@uberleroy). i've never gotten him but he's apparently a gt.

-Christina from Delaware

3. Used Uber to go to a party. Juan picks me and my little up. We talk, he's like our age and from Gainesville. We love Juan and tripsy-y tell him we hope he picks us back up. Fast forward to 2 am. A girl picks us up. Once again our age. Me and my little are slammed and want Taco Bell. HOMEGIRL takes us. And goes, "Oh I'm glad you live so close to me you're my last ride of the night." Found out she lives in my boyfriend's complex and her dog has played with our dog before at the dog park. Then we find out SHE'S JUANS GIRLFRIEND. We shit a brick. Best night ever.

-Maryjane from Florida

4. I had an Uber driver pick me and a friend up from downtown one night, and he kept talking about how much he loved driving Uber and it was an easy job blah blah. Then he runs a red light and got pulled over and we had to sit there for like 30 minutes. And then he tried to make me pay for the ride! LOL nah, not happening.

- Paige from Georgia

5. One of mine got pulled over while I was in the car lol. It was pouring rain and nighttime, and he didn't have his headlights on...so like pretty unsafe. He kept apologizing and begging us not to tell anyone he got pulled over.
Another time, my uber driver who was probably 5-10 years older than me was really friendly and talkative for the 10 minute ride. After he dropped me off, he texted me something like "hey I really enjoyed getting to know you. Text me if you ever want to hang out"

- Kaitlyn from Pennsylvania

6. An Uber this weekend picked us up in a giant pickup truck (in the middle of DC). People were driving a little crazy so he just stuck his hand out the window and stopped traffic from inside his car when he wanted to change lanes. It was great.

- Ashley from North Carolina

7. An Uber picked me up once just to take my friends and I for a late night Taco Bell run, and he was asking us if we worked and stuff and when he found out we all made minimum wage in the food industry, he gave us a free ride!

- Kelsey from Florida

8. We got in, he asked if we wanted air on/off. Windows up/down. Told us we could listen to anything we wanted & had an aux cord. Offered us snacks. And told us about his business he use to have delivering food, kinda like grubhub but he done it on his own.

- Brittany

9. One time my Uber driver was deaf and I got in the car and was telling her to turn because it would be faster and then trying to make small talk... and I thought she was just being a b**** when she completely ignored me.

- Kisha from Virginia

Wait, some of these don't sound that bad. Keep Ubering on, my friends.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
