Tyrod Taylor: 2016 "Boom or Bust?"
Buffalo News

Looking ahead in the world of sports we see great things currently. Right now, we see final moves being made to NHL and NFL teams, the NHL preparing for practice for the 2016-2017 season beginning in October, we have a ruckus ride to the finish for post-season baseball, we also have playoff baseball awaiting us in October, and then of course, the beginning of another great NFL season is upon us. This article however, is going to be putting a certain star under the spotlight: a man who I have talked about before, being a Buffalo guy.

He goes by the name of TyGod, T-Mobile, or just straight up Tyrod Taylor. Tyrod made a huge impact for the Buffalo Bills in the 2015-16 season. Starting 14 games for the Bills, the speedy QB racked up 568 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns to go along with his 3,035 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, a completion percentage of 63.7%. Those numbers added up to an eye-catching QB rating of 99.4. Personally, I really like Taylor. I believe this is the guy we need and have the best chance to win with. I think this is finally the franchise QB that they've been looking for.

He's a very explosive player. A showstopper. Momentum shifter. One of those guys that can change a game with one play. With the ability to read defenses and throw the long ball or run fifteen yards to get a first down, there's not really much that this guy can't do. But there is one huge question not only for Buffalo fans, but everyone who watches football.

Will he continue to be successful? Was last year a fluke? My honest opinion is, he will be as good as the team around him. There will be times where Tyrod will not be at his best and other players will have to step up to help him out. Whether it's the tailbacks having good rushes, a receiver gaining extra yards on the short pass, or the defense making big plays. If all the attention is on Tyrod, defenses will be able to defend his ability to stop the "homerun" balls or the impressive rushes that he showed last season.

So, to answer the question fully, will Tyrod have another "boom" of a season, or will the contract they gave him this offseason be a bust? I believe he will make a loud "boom." His work ethic and will to win is what drives this man to be so successful. He's a guy that everyone respects in the locker room and he wants the team to be as successful as him if not even more successful. If he doesn't put up 300 yards a game but still leads the charge on one or two crucial drives that help them win games, that's success. Sometimes, it's not always about numbers with quarterbacks. The leadership and smart decisions in crucial parts of the game even if it's early is what makes the guy under center successful. Having only thrown 6 interceptions last year shows he doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

The 2016-17 season will be a big one, not only for T-Mobile, but for the rest of the Buffalo Bills organization. Between giving a QB a rare, long-term contract, and entering year two under the reign of boisterous Head Coach Rex Ryan, there's a lot to look forward to. It will also be a benchmark to see what other changes need to be made. Even having to deal with a lot of star players sidelined due to injuries, the Bills are still in decent shape. The tough schedule, injuries, and suspensions are potholes on the road to success for Buffalo. Now, we just wait and see how many of those potholes they can avoid to end the longest current playoff drought in the NFL.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
