Five Types Of Studying You See During Finals Week

Ah, finals week. What an interesting time of the year for college students, to say the least. All college students have different ways of managing the excessive studying during the week, but here are a few of the most popular methods:

1. The Night Owl

Quite a few people prefer this method of study during finals week. These people are totally cool with grabbing a few red bulls and cracking down for a long night of studying. If they are lucky, the might squeeze in an hour or two of sleep. A lot of people just study through the night though, and hope that it pays off during the test.

2. Rise and Shine

Once 9 p.m. rolls around for these people, it's time to pack up the materials and turn in for the night. The thing about these people, though, is that this isn't the end of the studying. Instead, they are willing and able to get up at the crack of dawn to finish whatever work needs to be done. I envy these people, because if I decide to go to bed and do it in the morning, I know that it won't be getting done at all.

3. Cramming mere hours before

This is the essentially the study version of "hit the panic button". A few hours before the test rolls around, you realize you actually don't know anything at all. These few hours of cramming are a blur of notes and old course materials, all in the hopes of merely passing the test.

4. Studying weeks in advance

The people who manage to start studying a few weeks before finals truly do have their lives together. This is a crazy time of the year, and to take the time to get study guides prepared before the week of is a massive feat in itself. Truly though, props to these people for setting themselves up for a much more manageable finals week than the rest of us.

5. The wing it method

Sometimes, by the time finals week rolls around, we are so drained that all we can muster up is the wing it method. In all of the studying that I have done in my life, I have attempted this method once and only once. In that one instance though, I managed to actually fail the test. A lucky few are able to successfully use this method though, generally in cases when they were able to retain enough information over the course of the semester.

There are so many ways to get through finals, and I am sure we have all seen someone attempting one of the methods mentioned above. Some may have more success than others, but in the end though, we all just do what we gotta do to get through the week!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
