Being from the South is something most Southerners take pride in. There are things such as, a Mud Cricket, a Southern Belle and what others may call Rednecks. No matter what we claim to be, there are different types of Southerners. We from the South can definitely tell each other apart even if Northerners cannot. So, here are some types of Southern girls and how to tell us apart.

1. Southern Belle

A Southern Belle is probably one of the most well known of the Southern types. They are well kept and very well mannered ladies. Southern Belles make wonderful wives and mothers, because they cannot wait to pass down all they have learned through the years. The Belles of the South show Southern Hospitality at it's finest and you better believe we learned it from our mothers and grandmothers. Pearls and monograms are a way to a Southern Belle's heart -- especially if you get some Lilly Pulitzer and Jack Rogers to go along with it! We say "ma'am" and "sir," "please" and "thank you," and who can forget, as a Southern Belle, we must always say our blessings as well!

2. Country Girls

As a Country Girl myself, it's pretty easy to spot a real country person. Some people call us "Rednecks" maybe even a "Hillbilly," but we just let everyone say what they like to about us, because country folks do not get offended so easily as others in America do. Unlike Southern Belles, Country Girls may not have too many manners. Although we still say grace, thank you and ma'am, we have a hard time keeping our mouths shut. We can also do what the boys do. Heck we may even do it better! Getting dirty and holding our own in most situations is what sets us apart from the other types. However, we can clean up real nice when we need to. Also, unlike the next type, you never have to question our authenticity. We are the type to take home to momma then go mudding later.

3. Mud Crickets

Last but not least are what some Southern people may refer to as Mud Crickets. This type of Southern girl differs from the others in a few aspects. They don't have a lot of the same traits like the others. However, they have one in common with country girls, they can get dirty. They may not have a lifestyle like the others but they can have fun just like country girls do. Living a more city type lifestyle is what they enjoy doing best. Although when it comes to having a good time out in the country they are more than capable of handling their own!

I'm sure others may have more types of Southerners. These however were just on my mind. So, just because you are from the South doesn't make you any of these types listed. You determine who you are. No, your location definitely does not define you. Just shedding some light on some of my favorite people in my favorite place.

The South.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
