11 Types Of People On College Graduation Day

What will it be, tears or champagne?

At this point graduating seniors have just about two months until the big day. Excitement will fill the air, parents will be snapping pictures, speeches will be made, and the graduation song will play on a loop for precisely 47 million hours. However the emotions running through the crowd on that day are going to be all over the place and for every one–there's a label.

1. The primped graduate

I'm talking about those guys and gals that are decked out. They have a cord or stole for every organization they ever looked at, their hair and makeup took hours, their outfit–that cannot even be seen under a robe– is perfect, and they are ready for any sneaky candid a school photographer might snap.

2. The crier

Graduation marks the end of a chapter for so many, so it's understandable that it could be a sad day. But I can guarantee that there will be a solid portion of grads that will look at their freshman dorm on the way to the ceremony and cry, or see their best friend and cry, or see their family and cry. Bring your tissues people.

3. The booze sneaker

Maybe it's a classy as having a flask under your robe, but I mean who are we kidding–those things are roomy, go big or go home–one. last. time. I mean what's a celebration without a little buzz, am I right?

4. The photographer's kid

There will be at least one kid that already knows the drill, walk slowly across the stage, hold the handshake for an awkwardly long time, and prepare to pose, because their momma needs that perfect graduation day shot.

5. The hungover graduate

Are you doing your last night of college justice if you don't go out? Probably not. So graduation morning might be a little rough for some, but if there's anything that college taught you, it's probably how to get yourself together in an extremely short amount of time.

6. The dancer

I'm not sure why this is a thing, but undoubtably someone will dance their way across the graduation stage. I mean who am I to judge if you wanna go out in style?

7. The sleeper

There are thousands of people graduating in one day. The ceremony will be long, the speeches will feel like they are never ending, and the speakers as hard as they may try will probably not be entertaining. With that said, plus the possibility of a hangover, you can bet that a few capped heads will be drifting off.

8. The over-the-top grad cap

I am all for a cute saying on your graduation cap. But some people are going to go overboard, and it will be amazing. I'm talking battery powered lights and enough glitter to sink Martha Stewart's craft table. Hey at least their family will know which grad is theirs'.

9. The graduate with the fan section

Some people invite their family to important events such as graduation, others bring a fan section. Air horns will be blown, cow bells will be heard, screams from the depths of the world will echo. Pride is pride though, more power to them.

10. The nervous graduate

This is one of those unseen emotions. On the outside grads will either be grinning from ear to ear or crying rivers. But deep down everyone's going to have a touch of the butterflies, and rightly so, graduating college is probably the biggest accomplishment most of us have ever received. But if the nerves do get the best of you just remember this in preparation for the big day: girls- no super high wedges, boys- don't lie about your height you will get a super long robe and you will trip, shake with your right hand, accept the fake diploma with your left hand. You're welcome.

11. The time flies graduate

Honestly this is going to be all of us on graduation day. We will walk through campus on our way to the ceremony and take it all in one last time before it's officially over. The memories will flood our minds, and we will be momentarily taken back to freshman year when we couldn't imagine all of the things we've experienced in the last four years. Then you'll blink, realize you just crossed the stage, and are officially an alumni.

Here's to you Class of 2017, may the next weeks be filled with memories and go by as slow as humanly possible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
