Halloween is approaching fast and it's time to hit the local costume store with your friends to find a few good outfits for the weekend. There are so many different ways you can go when it comes to dressing up and since you will most likely be needing more than one costume, it's fun to mix up your ideas. For example, one night you can wear a scary costume and the other, you can put together something cute. Another fun way to dress for Halloween is to match with one of your best friends! Here are some good ideas that you can keep in mind when putting together the perfect costume.

1. The Scary Costume

Dressing scary to parties requires a ton of fake blood and a terrifying look in your eye. Don't be afraid to take it too far by purchasing a creepy mask or wearing something that is guaranteed to make even you jump when you look at yourself in the mirror. You'll have people screaming in your face and running away in fear all night long.

2. The Funny Costume

If you are known for your humor, then dressing up funny is perfect for you. Funny costumes will definitely make everyone around you giggle and probably want to take multiple pictures of you. You will stand out in the crowd, so you won't need to worry about your friends losing you at big parties and, chances are, if you do get lost, people will know exactly who your friends are referring to when they explain your costume.

3. The Artsy Costume

These types of costumes are for people who are able to put paint to skin and make it look fantastic. Face paint and intense makeup will really bring this type of costume together. The best part about these outfits is that it doesn't really matter what kind of clothes you are wearing on your body because most people will be paying more attention to the work of art that is covering your skin and face.

4. The Sexy Costume

These are the most common types of Halloween costumes that you will see on a college campus. These are costumes that a lot of people decide to do and have probably done more than once. Dressing as a bunny or a cat is the easiest sexy Halloween costume and even though seeing them around gets old, you will continue to see about 50 girls wearing all black and sporting ears every single year.

5. The Cute Costume

These costumes require a lot of creativity and will make other people jealous that they didn't think of it before you did. As you walk through the party, you will most likely hear a few "awww"s passing by.

6. The Easy Costume

These types of costumes are for the one who completely forgets about Halloween and hasn't put any thought or time into finding an outfit. Usually they are created by rummaging through your closet and finding a few articles of clothing that look like they would go together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
