5 Types Of People In Your Friend Group

Everyone has their own friend group or squad, but everyone also has different types of friends in their friend group. Like most groups, you all are very similar, but yet so much different. Each person has their own set personality and the way they act, that they most likely end up with a stereotypical name.

It's my second year of college and my friend group has expanded over the past two years but most of my friends have some favorable qualities about them. These qualities have led them to have their own specific name as to how I and everyone else describes and points them out.

So, here are five common types of friends in my friend group. And maybe in yours too.

1. The Mom

If you are the mom of the group reading this right now, then you are probably being in the "in denial" friend because you don't want to admit it. If you're the mom, you're the friend who less likely goes out as much as everyone else, because you like to get your full eight hours of sleep. But hey, it's OK, because with you, "Mom," we wouldn't have anyone to tell us we shouldn't what we aren't supposed to be doing, to be safe, to drive carefully, and to make sure we've done our homework. Don't take being the mom as a bad thing, because without you, we wouldn't feel at home and feel like we didn't have anyone to go to. We thank you.

2. The Life of the Party

Every group has one, there is no doubt about it. This friend is always done to go out, party, and have a good time. If you're tired, too bad, because she's the one begging, persuading, and knocking on your door until you get dressed and open the door. She's full of fun and laughter and always knows how to have a good time. But not only is she the party friend, she is also the friend that brighten up your day when yours is gray. She's always there for you no matter what and can always but a smile on your face.

3. The Dumb One

She means well. Really. She's different in her own way, but it's a good way. She's fun and she really is actually smart. It's just some of the stuff that comes out her mouth just doesn't make sense sometimes, you know? She's the friend that will text you one day and say "I just had to chase down my car in the Wal-Mart parking lot because I forgot to put it in park"........ I'm sorry, what?

4. The Drama Queen / Diva

Basically, the over-reactor. The exaggerator. The materialistic one. There's always going to be one. But without them, you wouldn't have any excitement. They make things come to life that shouldn't and little things into big things. They over examine everything and make stuff a bigger deal than they should be. They freak out over the smallest little details and drag out a story like no other. Without them, everything would be less exciting.

5. The Chill One

You're the one who is always down for whatever. You don't really care what you do as long as it sounds somewhat fun or interesting. You like to go with the flow and cross bridges when you get there. You're laid back, but you also know how to have fun when you want to. You sit back and just watch the show. You're there when you need to be there and when you don't have to be, you aren't. You like to do pretty much anything and you get along with pretty much everyone, because you really just don't care. You keep the group calm when things get rowdy. And that's why you probably are the one everyone likes to go to.

We all have our certain friend group with many different personalities with different qualities. It's a great thing to be friends with different types of people, because that's what makes it fun for all you. You try things and experience stuff you probably would have never done without them. And that's what friends are for, to make you become a better you or a more fun you. Hug your friends because without them, there's no telling where you'd be.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
