4 Options For Making Money Through Freelance Work

This is actually going to be one of those articles where I actually have somewhat of an idea about what I am talking about, and I can be semi-serious about the article for once. This doesn't usually happen, so I hope you appreciate the actual effort I put into this article. Okay, rant over, let's do this.

Alright, so you might be asking yourself, what do I do full time? I am currently a managing consultant for an engineering firm just a couple of miles away from UCF. For those that are consultants in your respective companies and fields, I hope you can agree with me and say that being a consultant is literally one of the best jobs you can have in any industry. You're the person they seek answers from, you're the person they look for to get something done when someone else can't, and you're probably one of the more reliable people within the company.

To those who do not do consulting, do not worry, you too can make money doing tasks similar to what we do via freelancing. What is freelancing exactly? It's essentially selling a service or work you are experienced in by the hour, day, or week, instead of a typical salary that a normal workplace would give you. Although you can do full-time freelancing type jobs, a good majority of them cannot sustain your everyday expenses as freelancing does not pay much, but freelancing can be a good secondary or passive income to supplement your primary income with your normal job. Let's take a look at some examples of freelancing.

1. Freelance Writing.

Writing for Odyssey counts as freelance writing. If you haven't figured out by now, freelance writing for this website definitely does not equal a livable income, and it's understandable because there's just so many of us. However, if you do it long enough like I have, you learn the little tips and tricks that can get you to earn more money via social media shares or just opening the link of your articles. This can work for other websites too. Blog websites, professional websites, and even travel websites look for freelance writers. If you can't find any websites looking for writers, start your own and build your brand yourself, otherwise known as "being your own boss".

2. Freelance Graphic Design.

Another lucrative type of freelancing is graphic designs. This could be anything from designing logos, to shirt design, and even designing a company website, graphic designs have unlimited potential to make money if you do your research in regards to pricing, packages, and other expendables.

3. Translation/Transcription Jobs.

These jobs are really tedious and repetitive, but if you do it long enough you could be making a lot of money (not really). These jobs are good if you can stare at a screen long enough doing the same thing over and over, I wouldn't recommend these if you get bored too easily.

4. Call Centers.

This one, depending on the company, can you earn you a good second income. Depending on the job, call centers are usually not hard, and you can do them right from the comfort of your home.

These are just some ways you can freelance. Obviously, there is more than four, so if you are looking to freelance, do your research and see which types of jobs you are good at that can make you some good secondary income.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
