My phone rings one time

It turns out to be from you.

My phone rings eleven more times

They’re still from you

At this point I’m the one committing crimes

Ignoring all your texts looking right through you

But what does it matter

Cause once I respond

I’m treated like a silver platter.

In a minute you’ll respond

Not even thinking to scatter

Now I responded and have demanded

For an apology and a chance.

But I’m the one that left you stranded

So why give me a chance?

You’ve been saving this

From complete disaster

And I’ve acted like I won’t miss

You never giving up on this disaster

But I give a sigh of bliss

Because you’re there for me through my disasters

You’re always there for me

Someone I can always count on

To make me feel carefree.

But I’ll get on

A train and flee

Once your emotions turn on

I’ll be there once or twice

But don’t count on me

I’ll scurry like mice

Cause that’s better for me.

But you’ll take the risk and roll the dice

On a friend that’s not worth it-who is me

So why did you come back?

“Cause I understand your world is pitch black

You need to give someone a whack

So you don’t start to crack

Because all your stress is not neatly packed.

You don’t even have a minute to get a snack

Cause you need to spend all your time getting your life back on track.

But all you can think about is coming up with a comeback

Because if I ask what I lacked

You will say don’t do this again so you don’t fall back.

Cause you can’t handle anything else giving you a smack

Even though you know you were in the wrong you can’t have any more setbacks.

So you act like this is all on me so you won’t get sidetracked.”

“This is why I came back

Because I want you to be ok.

I want you to have a great day

And the strength to fight whenever something is grey.

I understand you might fly away

But you know I would build you a sleigh

Because you, I would never betray.”

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
