Have you ever faced the reality of finding out who a person really is? Everyone has or will experience this type of thing at some point in their life. This can be very difficult to find out and deal with. I will share my experience with you. About a year ago, I met a person who seemed nice and outgoing. This was a good thing because I am quite reserved and I keep to myself. I thought that that person might be able to help be break out of my shell. Because I was not outgoing, I was not the one to reach out first. After a few months passed, we became good friends. Hanging out all the time and positively building each other up. Like any friends ship we had some disagreements that would separate us for a few days, but before you knew it, we would apologize and go right back to how we were before. Things seemed to be going great for a while, however, we all know that a healthy friendship isn’t healthy without some issues to overcome. I started to realize that things were going a little too smoothly. I decided that I was just going to remain. I hate fighting anyway. About two months after things were going good, it seemed to take a turn for the worst. We constantly started butting heads and fighting. Our visits with each other turned into confrontations that would end in anger on both sides. Struggling to fix things every time, we thought maybe we both should just separate ourselves for a while. That lasted for a week. When we started to talk and hangout again there was just an awkwardness that seemed to follow us. We decided to discuss how we both we feeling and express our issues toward each other. We soon found out that we just could no longer get along. Things that we bonded over for two years were no longer things we could bond over. After a little more fighting, and time passing, we decided to cut the friendship off. Both of us went on with our lives never even speaking poorly of each other. Then about three weeks later, things started to change drastically. The person who I thought I knew, I didn’t know at all. My now ex-friend, was spreading around rumors and acting out. Or so I thought. Turns out it’s not acting out. The person I just spent almost every day at least talking to was a complete stranger. I began to realize that our values were never the same to begin with. Just about a week ago it was revealed to me that I was being used for the past two years. It was so hard to see clearly. After I knew what really happened I realized that it was true. I was just being used. It’s never easy finding that out and it surely was not easy for me to grasp. From now on I realize that people are not always who they say they are, or who they even act like. In my situation it was just a person who was good at acting. I felt so stupid for not being able to see right through it. After I got over the embarrassment, I thought of it as a life lesson. I learned so much about myself through it. Now here I am sharing my story hoping to remind people to be careful and cautious of who you are around. Also, to remind that if you allow it to happen to you, it can be a very difficult thing to deal with.
