It's the Fall of 2016...that means it's election time. Most Americans anticipate this time of the year to come around. New voters register, we all have opinions and we all feel passionately that our country will hopefully benefit from the new President and Vice President.
Maybe it's just me, but this time around it seems completely different. Maybe because this is the first time my vote matters and maybe it's because this time around I'm amazed, maybe it's because I'm naive. But for some reason I don't think I'm the only one that feels like this time around is completely, one hundred percent different.
I'm not on a side. Though many think I should want to "Make America Great Again" and others think I should support the #imwithher movement. I'm so confused, I feel as if this is a prank and that someone, maybe Bernie will fly down during the debate and announce him running again.
Debate #1 really through me for a spin. I tried to go into it neutrally. I wanted to give both Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton a chance. The media portrays the both of them in such strong ways. Even though I have been exposed to their images on the internet, I tried to forget about them and concentrate on what the both of them had to say.
Immediately, Trump blew my mind. His arrogance was overwhelming and his aggressive, obnoxious tendencies made me feel ill. Cutting Hilary off several times because he feels as though he is better than her and has the right to stomp on her. I had to remind myself that this was a debate and not a reality TV show.
Hilary, though prepared and wise; was fake. Her voice sounded as though she was being told to say what in fact she was saying and she sounded like a robot. She bated Trump the whole entire time. Everything she said, though she didn't react to him, was meant to fire up Donald Trump.
One of these candidates is the future of our country. Not once did they promptly answer the question Lester gave to them. It was the Trump and Clinton show. They were so concerned on beating the other one that they hardly had time to debate current issues.
Both Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump are intelligent individuals yet have issues that they seem to care about more than they do our country.
As a 19 year old female, I feel very scared for the future and the potential they both have to mess up the future. History is in the making and debate #1 will definitely be one to rock my children's history textbooks in years to come.
