On Thursday, November 2, around 5:50 p.m., the world experienced what twitter would be like without Trump. Some were confused, some were angry and others took to making memes: had North Korea finally mounted their attack, severing the ties between the U.S. President and the American public? For those 11 minutes, Twitter users everywhere squinted their eyes and tilted their heads in unison, completely confused at what had occurred.
Luckily, the darkness subsided and Twitter released a statement saying that the account was deactivated due to human error and that they would be conducting an internal review to get to the bottom of it.
The internal review concluded that the account deactivation, that caused the chaos, confusion and copious meme creations, was done by a single employee.
According to Twitter, the customer support employee deactivated the account on their last day of work. I like to think that it probably went a little like this:
Regardless of how it went down, whether there were sweaty palms or complete nonchalance on the Twitter employee’s part, there is still a valuable lesson to be learned: have confidence and trust in yourself.
This might be an extreme case, I mean it’s not everyday that you get the chance to deactivate the twitter account for arguably one of the most important people in the free world, but it still shows that sometimes you just have to go for the things you want.
If some Twitter employee could pull off one of the most hilarious and bold political pranks of the year, you could believe in yourself for five minutes. Take a chance and shoot your shot! Apply for that job, ask that person out, go on the vacation you always wanted to go on because life is too short and too full of opportunity to waste it.
Taking risks every once in awhile could change your life for the better and even if they don’t work out, learn from them and work to do better. After all, it’s better to say “oh well” instead of wondering “what if.”
